Designing an office with a Scandi interior design aesthetic involves incorporating key elements of simplicity, functionality, and understated elegance. The PSA office is a nod to its future-forward vision, which reflects its distinctly modern identity and world presence.
This Office With Scandi Interior Design Has Simple Elements | Ekta Khanna Design Studio
As we enter the office, the narrow reception area receives natural light from the open office in front. An ashwood-panelled wall on one of the lengths of this space gives the opportunity to create a shallow niche for housing the TV and hiding its cables for displaying art, and it also continues to form the cupboard that has the DBs and panels. The corner has been kept open while creating minimal, elegant shelving that is perfect for displaying trophies and certificates. The other length of the space has a long bench for visitors. The reception desk itself is functional while being minimal.
The open office layout has been strategically planned with a timeless material and colour palette of dark grey and white, along with light ash wood.
This neutral palette has highlights of frames painted in midnight blue and earthy taupe, and these create a strong brand identity while still maintaining a bright and airy atmosphere.
These colours also help reflect natural light and make the space feel open and spacious. The decor is minimal and purposeful. There are a few statement pieces of art that perfectly complement the Scandinavian-inspired lighting fixtures, forms, and clean geometric patterns. These add visual interest without overwhelming the space.
The client loves nature and plants, and on her request, we have incorporated indoor plants in as many areas as we can. These bring a touch of nature indoors and promote a healthy work environment while adding a pop of colour and softness to the space.
The conference room itself has wall-to-wall shelves filled with law books. We have consciously avoided symmetrical design and have even used completely different materials along both lengths of the room in order to create visual interest and avoid a tunnel-like effect in the long space.
One length of shelving is white, and the other length is ashwood. The shelving design itself conceals the bulky columns in places and also allows adding tall storage solutions within the room. The colour palette is muted, and the art is a mix of traditional Buddhist Tankha paintings and museum prints.
The cabins are along the periphery and have monochromatic shelving and storage. The walls are in deep taupe and have been dressed with museum prints.
The cabins have glass fronts and give a sense of depth to the open office space.
The furniture has clean lines, simple forms, and a focus on functionality, as most of the cabin furniture is height-adjustable and suited for varied ergonomics. The design of all furniture, including desks, chairs, storage solutions, and other seating, is sleek and blends seamlessly with the overall design.
