The 1900 sq. ft. rental apartment design underwent a transformation into a contemporary home with a minimalist aesthetic. We achieved this by embracing a soothing, neutral palette and invoking a comforting ambiance. Our design approach capitalized on the impressive 3.2-meter ceiling height. This further integrates it into a grid system that adds captivating visual interest.
Editor’s Note: “The minimalist aesthetic of this apartment in Mumbai invokes a feeling of comfort and warmth. Thoughtfully curated art pieces and furnishings break the grid like system integrated for captivating visual interest. Every corner of the apartment is a work of art, seamlessly harmonizing the varied elements into a minimalist character of the abode.” ~Simran Khare
This Rental Apartment Design in Mumbai Underwent A Transformation | The Artful Habitat
To ensure the grid system did not overwhelm the space, we strategically introduced breaks, fostering fluidity. These breaks were accentuated through carefully curated artworks and furniture arrangements. Integral to our design strategy was the inclusion of wall panels, offering both aesthetic appeal and practical functionality. Designed with versatility in mind, these panels can seamlessly transition into future homes once the lease expires. It ensures a sense of continuity and familiarity.
Additionally, we prioritized maintenance-free materials to minimize upkeep, underscoring our commitment to both aesthetics and practicality. In essence, our design philosophy for this rental apartment design is centered on achieving a harmonious balance between form, function, and usability.
In the living room, we employed a combination of laminates and storage solutions to provide maintenance-free options. This moreover, ensures durability and ease of upkeep.
To infuse a touch of luxury, we additionally sourced Satvario textured PVC louvres for the TV wall, adding depth and sophistication to the space.
Additionally, a single wallpaper was strategically applied at various angles to create a dynamic and dramatic effect, enhancing the visual interest of the room.
To elevate the ambiance and introduce an element of quirkiness, we curated imported furniture pieces that complemented the overall design aesthetic while adding character and charm to the space.
Furthermore, to inject vibrancy and texture into the room, we incorporated handmade artworks crafted from Plaster of Paris, showcasing intricate detailing and unique designs that served as focal points and conversation starters.
In the master bedroom, we employed PVC charcoal flutes in conjunction with mirrors and laminates to create a striking grid-like pattern, instilling a sense of modern sophistication.
To introduce visual interest and break the structured aesthetic, circular organic artworks were strategically placed, adding a touch of elegance. While the beds were provided by the landlord, we collaborated on upholstery to infuse the space with a personalized look.
The furniture within the room featured quirky prints and textures, injecting a vibrant pop of personality into the serene ambiance.
In the son’s bedroom, we opted for PU faux stone panels to achieve a sleek and modern aesthetic. Complementing by sleek bed back and bedside furniture, the panels created a dynamic visual contrast, adding depth and dimension to the space.
The family selected these stone panels notably for their versatility, enabling easy reuse in future spaces and ensuring continuity and adaptability as they transition to new environments.
The balcony stands as a majestic retreat within the heart of the bustling cityscape. With its towering height of 7 meters, it offers a breathtaking panoramic view of the surrounding skyscrapers and the iconic Worli Sea Link. At sunset, the horizon becomes a canvas, painted with hues of orange and pink, casting a mesmerizing glow over the urban landscape. It serves as a perfect setting for relaxation and contemplation.
Carefully curated plants and meticulously arranged furniture adorn the spacious balcony, optimizing every corner for comfort and beauty. The furniture is thoughtfully positioned to maximize the enjoyment of the view while providing cozy nooks for relaxation or conversation.
