650 Sq. Ft. Apartment Renovation Found its Custodians in a Family of Four | Techton
This apartment renovation demonstrates compact family living at its finest, emphasising an open plan living-dining focusing on natural light. A muted palette in the flooring, walls and doors are juxtaposed with unique wallpapers and upholstery to add a vibrant splash of colour and flair,” principal architect Zaheed Lokhandwala explains.
Modifications bring the ancestral furniture to life by reflecting a novel twist in terms of colour and texture to redefine its role in the final look of the house.
Upon entering the home, the space unfolds into a dynamic living area that flawlessly transitions into the dining space. Adjacent to the dining area, a fluted glass-panelled sliding door provides much needed privacy to the kitchen, the guest and the master bedroom.
Unified by a palette of earl grey flooring accented with classic black wooden trims, the family’s living space exudes a timeless aesthetic. Light grey cement plastered walls, complemented by period furniture, establishes an effortless aesthetic. Pops of colour enhance the minimal palette visible in the furnishings, while brass fittings against the backdrop of black upcycled teak-wood doors provide a striking contrast.
The living room of this Mumbai home has a compact seating layout comprising of a pink linen couch, a grey sofa-cum bed anchored around an abstract hand-tufted rug. The dining space comfortably seats four when propped open, completed by sleek pinstripe-upholstered dining chairs.
Moroccan dado inserts brings the compact kitchen to life. The vintage elements along with the brand-new furniture adds a ‘high-low’ contrast theme that runs throughout the space with its unique patina adding a feeling of nostalgia.
Whereas, the primary and guest bedrooms have been meticulously crafted to serve as tranquil sanctuaries elevated by a muted colour palette, soft-layered textiles, and delightful wallpapers.
Tear drop hanging lights, a tropical wallpaper and pistachio-oak furniture give the master bedroom a cosy, mature vibe.
The wall-to-wall cabinetry in the guest bedroom features, as the centre-piece with its subtle wallpaper adorned shutters. The guest bath emanates a playful aura with its abstract tile design.
