A Home with Dogs that Emerges as a Delightful Testament | Purple Backyard

Nestled in the bustling city of Mumbai, this residence, is a home with dogs that emerges as a delightful testament to the vibrancy and synergy of a young, fun-loving couple in their early 30s. It goes beyond the conventional; a masterpiece that seamlessly blends the couple’s personalities with an ASMR-ic design philosophy that’s synonyms to Purple Backyard – the design team behind creating this home that is both chic and organic.

The owners fondly call their home “Frenchie Haus,” inspired by their role as devoted dog parents to two adorable French Bulldogs. Many design choices were made with the dogs and their needs in mind. Hence, adding a unique and personalized touch to the overall concept.

It is commendable how within the 1650 square feet of space, the design team has integrated storage solutions. The storage accommodates essential elements like the electric box and automation box. The layout, comprising two bedrooms, a spacious kitchen, and a versatile den. They have seamlessly arranged everything to optimize the available area. “The success of this project can be attributed to the collaborative decision-making process with the client during the development phase. Kumpal Vaid, Design Principal at Purple Backyard, explains that they made innovative choices to enhance the overall design and functionality further.

Editor’s Note: “This abode in Mumbai is an exquisite fusion of contemporary living with a dash of quirky statement furnishings. Every corner is a masterpiece, seamlessly integrating unique elements that captivate the eye. The bedrooms offer a serene haven exuding a zen-like aura. The innovative choice of materials with a neutral colour palette embraces the abode in a comforting and minimal luxury.” ~Simran Khare

The Kitchen

The kitchen is a burst of colour, a reflection of the couple’s affinity towards cool blues and greens. The design team took a different approach and used the colour-blocking technique, incorporating a beautiful blue hue with a black table top, transforming this functional space into a visual delight. Every piece chosen for the kitchen is not just functional but also serves as a bold statement, connecting deeply with the couple’s personality.

The charm of this house extends to a Mumbai apartment-sized deck, which features a statement bar with a convenient pull-out table and an acrylic installation. This setup creates levels for green planters, adding a sense of interest. The table, designed for conversation, invites friends to gather, converse, and enjoy the Mumbai breeze. The deck encapsulates the essence of the entire house—an organic yet fun environment.

The Master Bedroom

Venturing into the master bedroom, this space unveils a private sanctuary exuding elegance. With an elaborate wallpaper on the ceiling creating a visually arresting atmosphere, the space feels zen-like in its simplicity as well as it perfectly complementing the couple’s taste.

The guest room is designed to make guests feel at home, with thoughtful details. The guest room, a natural extension of the house, is designed with subtlety in mind. Adaptable to changes, it features an interesting backrest and curtains coincidentally in the Pantone Colour of the Year 2024—Peach Fuzz. Wooden flooring seamlessly extends into the guest bathroom, where marble takes center stage in a dramatic yet restrained manner. It’s a space that exudes warmth and welcomes guests with understated elegance.

Conclusion

This abode is more than a residence; it’s a living canvas that reflects the essence of the couple’s journey together. Each room tells a story, creating a symphony of style and personality. “The challenges faced during the design process only enhanced the outcome, proving that collaboration and a deep understanding of the client’s personality are the cornerstones of exceptional design,” concludes Kumpal when asked about the project’s challenges.
