  • South West Facing House Came With its Own Opportunities | Studio Quaint

This South west facing house came with its own opportunities and challenges, of 3000 sq.ft corner plot gave us a starting point to design this lovely 3 storey residence.

South West Facing House Came With its Own Opportunities | Studio Quaint

On the ground floor we have designed an office space and a boutique jewellery store for the client along with a spacious parking area, a huge verandah over looking a small garden where in the client is happily able to entertain their guest. In the back we have given the servant and the utility spaces so as to free up the space on upper floors which in houses the main residential space.

The first and second floor are the main living space. Here our biggest achievement was to create a feel of Grandeur within the limited space available, Thus came in the idea for a double heighted duplex lobby on the first floor overlooking the balconies on the south facade.

Here we questioned ourselves to give such huge openings on the south facade. We tackled this thought by give huge projections on top of the balcony. The existing trees on the pavement outside gave us a big advantage. It restricted the south summer sun entering inside the living area.

The rooms designed are very well lit and ventilated with huge windows. Each room is spaciously designed with their own dressing space, toilets and open balconies.

Another challenge was to complete the project in a very restricted budget, thus deciding where to cut corners was very essential in this project. Without compromising on the quality we focused more on the functionality and feel of the space with keeping the interiors on a lighter side.

We are very proud to have completed it within the said budget and timeline. And the client also is very happy with their new home.
