  • Shree Rathnam Bridges South Indian Architectural Vibrancy and Elegant Austerity of Modernist Interior| Loop Design Studio

Editor’s Note: In an artistic blend of regional pedagogy and modern outlook, lies this outlet of subtle tones. A visual embodiment of warmth, the material spread is the backbone of its beautiful execution. Shades of brown remind us of the southern soil while the sheer vibrancy of marble and musical of geometrical offsets on the ceiling add a twist of play among the sophisticated setting. ~ Nishal Sevak(Co-Editor)

The space is characterized by bands and layers of different hues and textures that bind the entire space in a singular composition. Shree Rathnam bridges South Indian architectural vibrancy and elegant austerity of modernist interior. The warm color tones and hues are reminiscent of the different shades of natural landscape in the Southern part of Indian peninsula.

The heart of the volume lies in the materiality of its surfaces, that attempts to create a contrast in harmony. The strikingly intense and sculptural Indian marble is symbolic of the rich hues and grandeur of South Indian architecture.

The hero of our design, the Indian marble characterizes the beautiful strokes of nature and adds to the beauty and splendor of the outlet. Marble is balanced by the warmth and linear geometry of oakwood scalloping and handmade tiles.

The avant-garde layout, modern furniture and greens impart a contemporary and sensory undertone to the space. The geometries on the wooden ceiling are an attempt to add a sense of eclecticism to the volume.

The space is designed as an ode to the regional and contextual modernism of our times, a coming together of two strikingly different architectural styles in a contiguous blend.
