  • Types of Security Cameras for your Indoor and Outdoor Home Surveillance

Having closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras provides us a higher level of security in our daily life. However, possessing CCTV is not enough. Knowing the right camera for the proper application is crucial. Taking that into consideration, here is a list of types of cameras where you can find one that best accommodates your needs.

    Bullet Cameras

These cameras are ideal for outdoor surveillance due to its long and cylindrical shape. It is protected with casings, which are sturdy enough to shield the lens from natural elements like dirt and dust. It is best for long-distance viewing.

    C-mount Camera

C-mount cameras are big indoor cameras, big enough to act as a deterrent to intruders. Due to its special lenses, it can cover 40 feet distance or more. Other standard lenses can only include distances of 30-40 feet.

    Dark Fighter Technology Cameras

Dark Fighter Cameras, from what the name says, can pick up colored images in very low-light settings, which makes it the perfect security surveillance camera at night. Not only at nights, but you can also utilize them at day time. This technology offers optimal performance due to its wide range of capabilities.

These cameras are equipped with half an inch Complementary metal–oxide–semiconductor (CMOS) progressive scan sensors, allowing it not to require an extra light source when collecting high definition images. Other smart features of these cameras include audio and face detection and line crossing.

    Day/Night Camera

Day/Night Cameras have extra sensitive imaging chips and do not need inbuilt infrared illuminators. These cameras are often used as outdoor surveillance, which can operate similarly on environments with bright and low lightings, and record in both black and white colors.

    Discreet CCTV

From its name, these cameras are located in careful placements that can allow a person to take good footage of incidents such as theft and other criminal acts, especially for indoor use. It is hard to spot because it can disguise in various subjects, so it is likely to be wrecked. Also, it’s best for monitoring movements outside and in your garden.

    High-Definition Cameras

An HD or High-Definition Camera has a very high resolution. According to Security Baron, people do not want to be frugal with quality. These cameras are one of those expensive cameras but of high quality.

HD cameras are often employed to maintain high security and maximum safety through recording clear footage of anyone who enters and exits. It can take detailed images and zoom in and out without losing focus. That is why it is typically used in banks, courts, and casinos.

    Infrared/Thermal Image Cameras

An Infrared camera is one of the best 24-hr infrared surveillance cameras. It is great in low-light due to its small light-emitting diodes (LEDs) placed around the lens that can aid in taking pictures of moving images in pitch black settings. It can capture over long distances and detect intruders from 250-+300 meters away.

    Internal and External Dome Camera

One of the traditional and commonly used cameras for indoor and outdoor security and surveillance. It has a substantial piece of design due to its shape, making it difficult for onlookers to determine which way the lens is facing. It is an (IR) camera and has a vandal-resistant feature.

    LPR/ANPR Cameras

License plate recognition (LPR) and Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras are CCTV cameras that are capable of capturing license plates regardless of different challenges such as fogs, car speeds, reflective license plate materials, and night vision.

These cameras will help homeowners and other people to get extensive information through scanning and storing data on registration plates from cars roaming around their premises. Its smart features include information storage and identification of banned vehicles from specific areas.

    Network Cameras

Ideal for both commercial and domestic uses, network cameras share images across the internet, so you can easily access footage even you are away from your place. It is pretty convenient as well since it includes less maintenance and cabling.

    PTZ Cameras

Pan, tilt, and zoom (PTZ) cameras can move from left to right and vice versa (panning), up and down and vice versa (tilting), and closer and farther (zooming). It is best to use when someone is guarding the place or operating the security systems. It has X36 optical zoom, 200m IR night vision, and high-quality image resolution.

    Varifocal Cameras

Varifocal cameras are known for their exceptional focus. These cameras can zoom in and zoom out without losing their sharpness and preciseness, making it an ideal gadget when taking footage in a square room, where dead zones are normally experienced.

    Takeaway

There are three things you need to consider before purchasing security cameras. Look for cameras with the right lens, sensor, and output resolution. If you have a wavering mind, seek consultations from professionals in this field.
