This Zen Home Reflects The Perfect Balance of Memory And Functionality. The residence was designed keeping in mind the unique personality of our client who believes in simple living and high thinking, and wanted an understated and uncluttered space.
The overall design language was based in ‘mindful elegance’ with minimal yet functional elements that strive to nurture the mind, body and spirit. Clean lines, a neutral colour palette, and natural materials like wood and marble, along with plush fabrics, evoke a feeling of relaxation and serenity.

“The main door’s size and design create a dramatic, inviting focal point with modern elegance.” The elegant, rounded arch provides a strong, classic architectural element, framing the door beautifully. The surrounding walls are clad in a horizontal grain wood veneer which provides significant visual warmth and luxury. “The white door panels feature vertical fluting, adding a modern twist and a sense of height.”
The living and dining areas flow seamlessly into one another, maximising the sense of space. We carved out a cosy study nook within the living area, which features a bespoke desk and large shelving unit as a backdrop. A key feature in this zen home is the floor-to-ceiling sheer drapes covering the large windows, which diffuse light and add a sense of height and softness.
“The magnetic track-light system unifies the living, dining, and study areas, making the space feel larger.” The dining table features a large chandelier that acts as a statement piece.
The living space transitions seamlessly into a focal media wall that perfectly encapsulates the home’s transitional Luxe aesthetic. “Striking symmetry grounds the design. Two identical panels featuring traditional moulding (wainscoting), painted in a unifying soft neutral shade, flank the large television.”
The fluting detail on the paneling offers some verticality to the space. “The designer introduced metallic accents through wall sconces, handles, and furniture details to complement the neutral palette.”
“Two luxurious, curved blush pink armchairs highlight the overall seating arrangement and anchor it alongside a modern sofa. These chairs introduce a bold yet soft colour and significantly contribute to the soft modern luxe feel.”
The primary bedroom in this zen home is modern, with a touch of minimalist luxury, with a focus on subtle textures and a neutral colour palette to create a serene and elegant ambience. The lines are clean, the furniture is streamlined, and the decoration is sparse but intentional.
The colour palette in this zen home is dominated by neutrals, including soft creams, beiges, off-whites, and warm browns (in the wood accents and bedding). This limited palette contributes to the tranquil and understated design language that we strived to achieve.
The walls, including the hidden door/wardrobe on the left and the headboard wall, feature fine vertical fluting or reeding. This adds a significant layer of texture and visual interest without being loud, reinforcing the modern aesthetic.
The floor-to-ceiling curtains lend a soft, flowing textile that contrasts with the hard architectural lines and the warm, dark-toned wood adds a touch of natural warmth to the space. To achieve a seamless look, we created a panelled wall with hidden door details, that becomes the backdrop of the bed.
The bed is backed by a custom low-profile upholstered headboard integrated with a floating wooden shelf that serves as nightstand area, complete with built-in recessed lighting and storage nooks. Wall sconces flanking the bed provide task and accent lighting. The intention was to go for refined simplicity over bold colours or ornate detailing to achieve a look that is both calm and distinctly high-end.
The primary bedroom uses a transitional style along with some traditional detailing. The defining feature here is the wall paneling (wainscoting) created by applying moulding details that adds some depth to the space. The colour palette is strictly monochromatic and the furniture pieces feature clean lines and a handle-less modern design. The wall sconce acts as a statement piece.
The tall shutters of the floor-to-ceiling wardrobe create some drama in a warm wood finish. We used Italian veneer with a prominent grain, finished in matt melamine polish, and a handle-less detail that aligns with the theme of the space.
In the son’s bedroom, the defining feature is the two-tiered, vertically channeled upholstered wall treatment behind the bed. The vertical fabric panels extend well above the headboard, creating dramatic height.
This strong vertical line visually elongates the space. The muted teal colour adds a touch of boldness in the neutral colour palette.
The concept for the wardrobe was to create an integrated, custom storage that maximizes utility within a bedroom setting while maintaining the room’s serene, neutral colour palette.
The design balances the storage with open shelves, all rendered in a soft, non-obtrusive style. The lines are clean, the forms are geometric, and the overall look is streamlined and handle-less and minimally detailed.
The concept for the daughter’s bedroom was to create a light, luxurious, and glamorous bedroom for a teenage girl. Blush pink and peach were the key accent colours, featuring prominently in the upholstered bed frame and bedding, lending a feminine and soothing quality.
The bedroom features a dedicated, integrated study area, that is both highly functional and aesthetically pleasing, using layered curves, rich materials, and a balanced colour palette. The desk is a clean, modern design featuring white drawers with elegant brass hardware. We introduced a striking curve that contrasts against the brass metal framing.
The cabinetry uses the same warm wood tone as the backsplash, with vertical fluting. Here, we have used a rich warm Italian veneer with vertical grains.
The wardrobe, with integrated vanity area, is a monolithic, floor-to-ceiling storage unit that serves as a feature wall, utilizing texture and geometric shapes to add visual interest without using bold colour.
The shutters were designed with concentric arched lines that add to the drama and create a more youthful vibe. The soft white finish is contrasted by the large round brass handles. The vanity features classic Hollywood lighting.
The ceiling is clad in a warm wood paneling, which contrasts beautifully with the white wardrobes and introduces an element of warmth and natural texture to the space.
The overall result is a bedroom that feels young and fresh, successfully layering different styles and textures to achieve a coherent look of soft modern glamour.
