This 4 BHK residence spans 2000 sq. ft. of carpet area and is distinguished by its panoramic views, abundant natural light, and 11′ clear ceiling height. Situated amidst the lively surroundings of Tardeo, Mumbai, the project’s initial inspiration was to capture the essence of the location, integrating these natural elements and views into a Victorian-style Interior design.
The clients, a family of six involved in chartered accountancy, envisioned transforming this raw urban block into their ideal home. They entrusted us with a significant creative mandate to translate their dream into reality.
This Victorian Style Interior Design Home Embraces the Beauty of Natural Elements | Studio 8
Upon entering, the home unfolds into a spacious living room. Moreover, it seamlessly merges with an attached balcony offering views of the Arabian Sea. Satvario marble flooring creates a seamless flow throughout the space, harmonizing modern and contemporary interiors with Victorian touches. The living room features details such as fluted wainscoting that extends to the ceiling through a cornice. Thus, complemented by the subtle wall mouldings and a large Georgian skirting. The design cohesively integrates a TV unit, complementing the surrounding elements.
Muted tones dominate the color palette, complemented by striking armchairs and carefully curated artwork. A stand-alone bar cum multipurpose unit serves as a striking centrepiece upon entering. Moreover, t combines aesthetic appeal with practical functionality for entertaining guests. The gold leafing console unit with a geometric pattern against the entrance wall, finished in smoked crown oak veneer, balances the metal accents throughout the space.
The large mirror wall paneling in the dining area enhances both the volume and natural light. Moreover, it seamlessly extends from the living space. A custom-made round dining table with a contrasting marble top adds to the sense of spaciousness and fluidity. Thus, ensuring a cohesive design narrative throughout the residence.
The master bedroom features a striking design element: a bed back that doubles as a large wall panelling crafted from fluted marble. This backdrop, adorned in shades of grey, sets a sophisticated tone in the bedroom. Inspired by the ocean views, designers infused the space with tones of blue and soft waves, creating a serene atmosphere.
Metal highlights along the wall panelling mimic the reflection of the sun. A custom-made study table drawn by this inspiration stands as a prominent feature in one corner. Moreover, it is complemented by a rope light and metal frame chair that add aesthetic value to the room’s entrance. The wardrobes, finished in PU with fluting details, harmonize with the bedroom’s overall design. A large mirrored wardrobe not only serves as a spacious dresser but also enhances the room’s sense of openness and brightness. Thus, amplifying the natural light in the passageway. The bathroom continues the theme of comfort with green marble-finished tiles and wooden panelling on the walls and ceiling. However, it creats a cosy ambiance.
In the parents’ bedroom, meticulous attention to detail creates a serene and luxurious atmosphere. A floating bed positioned against a full-height window serves as the centrepiece, flanked by integrated side tables and a dresser seamlessly enveloped by a layered bed back with softly curved edges, enhancing the room’s elegance. Full-height wardrobes finished in veneer feature back-painted glass strips and custom-made circular handles. Additionally, it provides ample storage while adding warmth and maintaining a cohesive aesthetic.
A cosy corner is formed by suspended metal strings with shelves, offering a relaxing spot adorned with curated artefacts, serving both as a decorative focal point and a functional area for leisure. The bathroom door is seamlessly concealed within the TV unit wall, finished in PU with metal strip highlights, enhancing the room’s seamless design and optimizing space. The bathroom itself features a single material with two types of finishes, creating a classy and timeless look complemented by wall sconces and metal highlights, ensuring a cohesive design narrative throughout the entire bedroom suite.
The study room serves as a versatile space, adapting seamlessly to various needs such as working from home, accommodating guests with its daybed that converts into a comfortable sleeping arrangement, or providing a dedicated area for children to study and play.
The wardrobes in this room are finished in white back-painted glass, doubling as a convenient writing board, which proves invaluable for this multi-functional setup. The design theme of gentle curves carries through into the space with a scalloped ceiling finished in a muted, earthy tone, adding a subtle yet distinctive architectural detail. The adjoining bathroom echoes this concept with an arch paneling adorned in piccolo tiles, creating an intriguing corner accentuated by an off-center suspended mirror.
