This Retail Store Design Embodies Comfort, Luxury, and Sophistication | Jetsons

[Sassy_Social_Share]

When Rahul and Rohit, founders of the bespoke menswear label, R&R, first approached us at Jetsons, their brief was simple yet ambitious: to create a retail store design that seamlessly embodied both ethnic and western wear, while exuding comfort, luxury, and a sense of quiet sophistication. The challenge lay in translating this multifaceted vision into a physical environment, one that was not only aesthetically compelling but also intuitively functional.

The design narrative unfolded with a focus on restraint and clarity. The designers carefully chose a subdued material palette to evoke a sense of understated elegance. They wrapped the entire space in a seamless, light beige concrete micro-topping—from floor to wall—creating a neutral yet warm canvas that allows the garments to take center stage.Curved walls and custom furniture with softened edges introduce a sense of fluidity, creating a cocoon-like environment that feels both intimate and expansive.

Design Challenge: Spatial Layout & Display Strategy

One of the key challenges in the project was the spatial layout and display strategy. The space needed to accommodate an array of menswear, from structured sherwanis and tailored suits to safas and handcrafted shoes, without appearing cluttered. The solution: minimal but thoughtful display interventions.

Bespoke hanger rods, finished in matte antique brass, elegantly suspend from the ceiling for primary apparel displays and rise subtly from the floor for showcasing footwear. The designers created these rods for more than just utility—they fitted them with concealed down-throw lighting to delicately illuminate each garment and enhance the visual appeal of the collection.

Entry Sequence & Spatial Organization

Upon entering through a fluted glass door framed in matte black mild steel, the layout immediately reveals its considered approach. Two compact display hangers frame the right side at the entry, and a prominent main display anchors the central axis. The third hanger rests on the left wall which is the second main display. Accessory shelves—one doubling as a built-in seat—connect the entryway to the trial room, adding multifunctionality.

Trial rooms are discreetly tucked into the rear-left corner, ensuring privacy while remaining seamlessly integrated into the spatial narrative. Oversized 8-foot mirrors with perimeter lighting enhance the store’s volume and add drama to the fitting experience.

Furniture pieces are kept deliberately minimal and sculptural. At the center, mirrored modular tables form a large unit, paired with chairs and pouffes. Designed to accommodate both intimate fittings and larger group interactions, this flexible layout underscores the brand’s bespoke philosophy. Near the entrance, a billing booth finished in the same texture as the floor and walls subtly blends into the interiors.

In essence, the store unfolds as an immersive exhibit, an architectural envelope that elevates the user’s experience of tailored menswear. It is a space where Indian tradition and Western refinement find common ground, articulated through a vocabulary of contemporary minimalism and tactile luxury.
