Arnav Jewellery, true to its ethos “Jewellery from the Heart,” celebrates artisanal craftsmanship & soulful design in this retail shop design. Studio Stimulus, along with Aranya – The Landscape Studio, was entrusted with transforming a five-decade-old bungalow into a refined, immersive retail experience. Located on Lavelle Road, the newly designed 2,250 sq. ft. store was designed with the intent to create a perfect base environment for the timeless jewellery that ARNAV makes.
This Retail Shop Design Celebrates Artisanal Craftsmanship | Studio Stimulus & Aranya-The Landscape Studio
In a bold reimagination of its storefront, Arnav transformed its entrance into an immersive architectural statement. Rooted in tradition yet refined in tone, the new design is both an elegant threshold and a brand manifesto.
Anchoring the entrance is a striking sculpture of the Hamsa, carved from Krishnashilley stone, a material sourced from Mysuru known for its spiritual resonance and symbolic purity. This mythical mascot embodies divine creativity and grace, setting the tone for what lies ahead. It rests in a lush foreground of schefflera and cast iron plants, framed by a smooth, earthy beige plaster wall that offers warmth and contrast.
At the heart of the design is a grand double-leaf metal door, finished in oxidized bronze. Inspired by South Indian temple doors, its studded panels evoke exclusivity and timelessness. Flanking this centrepiece, a laser-cut metal Jaali bearing the Arnav logo reinterprets traditional screens in a contemporary vocabulary, both ornamental and functional, it bridges brand identity with regional craft.
As visitors step through, they enter a curated passageway, a transitional space that quietly builds anticipation. The material palette remains grounded: plastered walls, heritage Chettinad Pillars that follow a Chola Architectural period detailing, and are more than 200 years old, and arched mirror insets add depth, rhythm, and historical layering. The stone flooring gently ascends through subtly lit granite steps, the integrated LED lighting creating a floating effect that guides movement with grace.
Lush oversized stone planters, placed with intention, introduce life and softness. Planted with Fan Palms, Bird of Paradise, Clusea, Ferns, and Asparagus, they serve not only as greenery but as spatial markers, shaping a natural flow while enhancing texture and visual interest.
Above, a glass pergola canopy connects the space to the sky. Allowing natural light to flood the corridor, it creates a seamless transition between the built and the organic. At dusk, discreet recessed lighting and wall washers take over, casting warm highlights on architectural details, foliage, and sculptural elements. The lighting doesn’t dominate; it complements, adding softness, focus, and rhythm.
Where many façades seek attention, Arnav’s speaks quietly, but with clarity, purpose, and elegance. The entry sequence into the store, begins with a striking teal door, visually rooted in Indian colour sensibilities, that invites patrons into a thoughtfully curated experience. A brand wall just inside showcases artwork and memorabilia collected by the client over the years, framed by soft wallpapers inspired by Indian textiles such as Ikkat, setting the tone for a journey that is both personal and immersive.
A transitional passage, defined by custom-printed tiles, bisects the floor plan and leads visitors through a linear layout flanked by display counters. Along one wall, an extraordinary installation features antique silver Artefacts. They have been collected over the past 30 years by the Founders. Some of the pieces are more than 100 to 125 years old. We framed them in silk, and they are a quiet homage to heirloom beauty. Soft furnishings strategically define zones, serving both function and visual comfort, while maintaining a sense of fluidity.
A muted, earthy material palette, lime-washed walls, teak-toned wood, and seamlessly blended wall and ceiling finishes create a warm, understated canvas against which every display is meant to shine. The spatial strategy focused on flexibility. The modular display units were custom-designed to adapt and evolve, allowing ease of rearrangement without structural constraints.
The design layers elements at every turn to echo the brand’s deeply Indian soul. Antique wooden pillars, salvaged and restored, anchor the store with a sense of heritage and permanence. These stately verticals, paired with a traditional brass-finish Jaali, ground the space in cultural memory. Accents of brass are woven throughout the interior. From subtle trims to display details, enhancing the richness and tactile quality of the design.
We placed the gold section on a slightly elevated platform and designed it as an intimate consultation zone. Here, form meets function with clever storage solutions that double as art: shutter panels adorned with curated prints turn storage into storytelling. This layered approach, of using display, furniture, and materiality to blur the lines between decor and utility, runs consistently through the space.
Lighting plays a crucial role. Carefully chosen fixtures evoke the shimmer of Swarovski crystals without overwhelming the space, subtle, refined, and in sync with the bejewelled nature of the brand. We restrained the overall lighting to draw attention to the jewellery, while allowing shadows and texture to add depth to the interiors
Studio Stimulus, along with Aranya – The landscape Studio, has stitched together a space that is introspective yet retail-forward, a visual and experiential narrative where Indian heritage meets contemporary adaptability. We designed every corner with intention, and we crafted every detail to reinforce the philosophy that jewellery is not just worn but remembered.
