In the heart of Boduppal, amidst the vertical rhythm of apartment blocks, stands a residence that redefines the meaning of home. The House of Staircases is not just an architectural creation, but a symbol of belonging, privacy, and identity. Designed for an organizer of a corporation deeply engaged with his community, the home balances public interaction with personal retreat. A generous forecourt and carefully planned waiting areas welcome visitors gracefully, while preserving the dignity and intimacy of family life.
This Personal Home Stands As A Residence That Redefines A Home | Studio 8055
At the centre of the personal home lies its poetry “the staircases”. Rising like sculptural veins, they are not basic pathways but experiences, carrying light and movement through the spaces. The cantilevered central stair, dramatically cutting across a double-height volume, embodies this spirit, drawing daylight into the core of the house. Each stair becomes a connector like sometimes bridging public and private realms, sometimes retreating quietly into the intimate heart of the home.
The interiors are crafted with a rare sensitivity to both togetherness and of the solitude. A vast living room accommodates family gatherings, seamlessly extending into dining and pooja areas that honour tradition. The kitchen, though modest, is positioned with care, offering a framed glimpse of the street while preserving privacy.
Personal sanctuaries, like the master bedroom, are designed to embody comfort and individuality, ensuring that the architecture adapts to the lives it shelters.
The architects have woven nature into the design through courtyards and balconies that soften the boundaries between inside and outside. The northwest courtyard acts as the breathing lung of the house, while the upper levels celebrate life with a mini-bar, home theatre, and terrace pool.
This rooftop pool, complete with stepped seating and a wall for open-air film projections, transforms into a stage for gatherings under the stars.
Grounded in warm woods, earthy browns, and timeless stone, the material palette speaks of quiet elegance rather than extravagance. It is a home that exudes balance and authenticity, resonating with honesty in every detail.
The House of Staircases stands as an enduring inspiration where walls are guardians, staircases are stories, and spaces breathe with life. More than built form, it is a living narrative, a home felt as much as it is inhabited.
