Situated in a bustling the city that never sleeps, this office space in Mumbai aims to break the conventional work setups. 1500 sq.ft. office space is privately owned by a family-run enterprise, operating in multiple markets and ventures. To accommodate a team of 15 individuals, the family had specific criteria in mind: encompassing comfort, functionality, and aesthetic appeal.
The prevailing norms spoke of inflexible working environments prevalent in this precinct, with offices consisting of rigid spaces that hampered the standard of working. We seized the chance to challenge the established context.
Our design approach tackled this obstacle by integrating staggered fluted wooden partitions along the central axis of the office. This strategic placement served multiple purposes: breaking away from the rigidity of a conventional office setup, infusing the space with dynamism and fluidity, while also facilitating various functionalities.
The fluted partitions acts as navigational walls and also double as artistic showcases with concealed access points within the office. They also serve as acoustic panels to creating a quieter environment, a good balance of functionality and aesthetic appeal. The indirect lighting on the fluted partitions further enhances the experience and ambience by emphasizing on the dynamic non-linear nature of circulation.
To evoke a sense of warmth and visual harmony, wooden flooring complements the textured wood in the fluted partitions. The storage bears a blue color to highlight the space, making it a gesture, as opposed to being a cabinet. Featuring an elegantly luxurious palette, the cabins and the meeting room incorporate wooden textures, matte brushed brass accents. Along with having a striking statuario marble table-tops, it uses the backdrop to showcase jewelry.
The office transcends the conventional grid layout commonly found in traditional office spaces, embracing a more dynamic design approach. While the circulation enhances the space with its distinctive character, the use of materials grounds it. It fosters a humble environment that perfectly complements this family-run business.
