This home was meant to serve as a sanctuary that reflects the Indian heritage and transports them to the heart of India whenever they visit. Their brief was, ‘We want to see and feel the colours of India in this home’.
Our design approach was to mix and match different textures, fabrics, and patterns to create a visually stunning and culturally rich space. A space that reflects the beautiful colors of India. Further, to create a space that resonates with the essence of India, we incorporated rich hues. It included jewel greens, royal blues, and oranges paired with neutrals. We infused these colors through elements such as textiles, wall coverings, and decorative pieces to evoke a sense of warmth and luxury.
This Home Was Meant To Serve As A Aanctuary That Reflects The Indian Heritage | Vriksh
We incorporated traditional Indian patterns like paisleys, mandalas, and intricate block prints to add an authentic touch to the decor. Additionally, we added elements such as brass accents, carved wooden furniture, and lush fabrics. This further enhances the overall aesthetic and creates a cozy retreat for the family to unwind and reconnect with their roots.
By blending the colours, textures, and scents of India in the design of their holiday home, the intent was to create a space that not only reflects their Indian culture and heritage but also provides a haven of relaxation and rejuvenation amidst the hustle and bustle of everyday life abroad.
Upon entering the foyer, one steps into a space accentuated by hand made accent pieces such as a restored antique window and a bone inlay cabinet.
The living room was designed with jewel tones of green, blues, and oranges to create a rich and luxurious ambiance and infuse the space with warmth.
However, pairing this colour scheme with a coffee table fashioned from an antique window adds a unique and eclectic touch to the room’s decor. The juxtaposition of old and new elements creates a visually interesting focal point.
To enhance the character of the walls, incorporating a hand-carved wooden panel brought texture and depth to the space. Additionally, a throw of cushions in vibrant colours and patterns further elevates the design by adding a pop of colour.
Furthermore, an antique door table was paired with contemporary chairs in vibrant colours to create an interesting juxtaposition of styles. As a result, it is a visually striking and inviting space for gatherings and meals.
The use of an antique door as a table not only brings a sense of history and nostalgia but also serves as a conversation piece for guests.
The weathered texture and intricate details of the door add a touch of rustic elegance to the overall aesthetic of the space.
The master bedroom design incorporates shades of blue paired with bold patterns in an India Circus wallpaper. By incorporating bold patterns in the wallpaper, the room gains a unique and eye-catching focal point. Thus adding depth and visual interest to the space.
Whether it’s geometric shapes, floral motifs, or abstract designs, the wallcovering serves as a statement piece. As a result, ties the room’s decor together in a cohesive and stylish manner.
Moving further, the guest room is designed in hues of green with paisley patterns and a hand-carved wooden accent piece in distressed finish, a harmonious blend of an old-world feel and style.
The green hues, however, brings a sense of tranquility and nature into the room, creating a serene atmosphere.
When paired with other metal pieces in the room, such as lamps or decorative objects, they further enhance the cohesive look and feel of the space.
The kids’ room, featuring neutral shades of whites, creams, and browns, along with a nature-themed wallcovering in monochrome tones, creates a calming and serene atmosphere. The choice of soft and neutral colors like white, cream, and brown provides a timeless backdrop for the room.
These colors can easily adapt to changing decor styles and preferences as the child grows. The nature-themed wallcovering adds a touch of whimsy and brings the outdoors inside. Thereby fostering a connection to nature and creating a soothing environment for rest and play.
