This Home is Enriched in Greenery with its Outdoor Seating Design. Set inside the iconic RK Studios building in Chembur, this home immediately greets you with a quiet grandeur. The client approached the project with a clear vision- a home that felt timeless, warm, and deeply personal. She wanted a space that used wood generously, not just as a material, but as a way to bring in warmth and texture. The design was to be classic and understated, with an emphasis on elegance that felt natural rather than ornamental.

The soaring 14-foot ceilings boasted by the home are impossible to miss. They stretch upward with grace, made even more striking by delicate moulding details and graceful wooden arches.
At the entrance, timber rafters cradle an ornate chandelier, setting the tone for a space that’s both timeless and welcoming.
Designed with a love for mid-century charm and earthy warmth, the apartment strikes a perfect balance between beauty and soul.
The living room is grounded by a neutral palette, brought to life with wooden textures, colourful accents, and a stunning Pichwai painting that anchors the space with tradition.
Rattan furniture adds a whisper of rustic elegance, while handpicked collectibles from the homeowner’s travels tell their own quiet stories in every corner.
The dining area features a sculptural marble-topped table supported by rounded wooden forms. Overhead, a modern chandelier with colourful hand-blown glass adds a subtle visual contrast.
The ebony-framed crockery unit stands out with its intricate details and floral wallpaper backing, a considered blend of function and ornament.
In the kitchen, a light colour palette of mint green and pale wood keeps the space feeling open and fresh. Italian marble countertops and Moroccan tile accents provide texture, while fluted glass sliding shutters allow for flexibility in how open or closed the kitchen feels to the rest of the home.
The arched window openings of the Art Deco style RK Studios building lends itself naturally to the lovely primary bedroom.
Hand painted wallpaper adorns the room, while the timber bedposts echo the veneer used for the TV- Unit.
The luxurious walk-in wardrobe utilizes fluted textures, complete with its own chandelier, elevates the everyday experience.
The south facing second bedroom receives plenty of natural light, which peers through the sheer curtains. The bed features a carved headboard with soft cushioning.
A beautiful, intricate Mandir basks in the sunlight. The curved edges of the TV unit create a harmony in the space.
The entertainment room has a blue sofa with brown paper hanging lights that look like artwork. The entertainment room introduces a slightly different tone with a blue sofa and sculptural paper pendant lights bring a sense of ease and informality. It’s a relaxed corner of the home, designed for comfort.
Altogether, the apartment reflects a quiet confidence, with a thoughtful layering of materials, textures, and personal objects that come together with ease. Each space feels intentional without being overly designed, allowing the architecture to breathe and the furnishings to support everyday life.
There’s a balance between old and new, softness and structure, function and beauty. What stands out most is not any single piece or room. But the sense of comfort that runs through the home is a calm, lived-in quality that makes it feel both familiar and refined. It’s a home shaped by the people who live in it, with just the right amount of restraint and personality.
The standout feature of the home is the expansive outdoor sitting design. Lush with greenery and dappled sunlight, it’s a relaxing extension of the living area.
A key requirement was to highlight client’s extensive collection of plants, which holds both aesthetic and sentimental value.
A timber gazebo with cane lights creates a shaded sit-out perfect for quiet mornings, while a built-in bar area allows the space to transition easily into a setting for gatherings.
