“The designers centered the design around creating a warm and tranquil sanctuary for a young couple, both doctors by profession—a cancer specialist and a dentist.” Their vision is a home that provides a soothing and relaxing atmosphere, offering a perfect retreat to unwind after the demands of their daily work, especially in the emotionally intense field of oncology.
To bring this vision to life, they entrusted the team Design alley. “The design team articulated the vision: ‘From the very beginning, the objective was clear—crafting an open, interconnected environment where every corner is inviting for exploration and no area feels restricted.’
This Home Is A Perfect Retreat To Unwind After A Busy Day | The Design Alley
The primary challenge, as they recall, was with the bedrooms. “When the builder first provided the floor plan, the team found the rooms too cramped for comfortable furniture arrangement and movement.”
So, the design commenced with reimagining the layout, selectively demolishing some walls that promote interconnectivity between the spaces while optimising their utilisation. A plan was carved out that seamlessly connects the living with dining, as well as kitchen. This approach was designed to foster a harmonious flow between spaces, making the overall environment feel more spacious and welcoming to unwind and relax.
The earthen pots at the entrance blend seamlessly with the overall design, creating a cosy and inviting space where every detail unwinds with practicality and visual appeal.
The entrance seamlessly integrates with the overall design, featuring a semi-curved entrance with glass element. This design allows for a subtle glimpse of the interior and exterior, creating a harmonious connection between the two environments.
“The designers adorned the living room in a soothing shade of sage green, and they used wooden flooring to enhance the warmth and comforting atmosphere.”
The living with its green space enjoys abundant light, with lush potted greens bringing in a refreshing energy to the palette.
The TV console features cane, that blends with the room’s color palette, unified by a cohesive design language.
“A folding door brightens the dining area next to the living room, flooding the space with sunlight and fresh air.” A large table anchors the room, perfect to unwind for family meals and hosting guests.
The kitchen’s platform features an additional breakfast counter, ideal for casual family meals.
“In the young daughter’s bedroom, the designers transformed part of the closet into a small, cozy reading nook—a space where imagination can thrive and the child can unwind and explore in comfort.”
The master bed includes a study unit, with a seating window beside it that maximizes the compact space. The windows flood the room with natural light, enhancing its sense of openness and connection to the outdoors.

“Demolishing the wall between the two bedrooms allowed us to use the wardrobe as a functional divider, improving flow and usability.”
“The designers used subtle and minimal design elements to create a calm and comfortable atmosphere in the parents’ room. They highlighted the bed’s backdrop with graceful arch paneling, adding a refined touch to the space.”
Incorporating soft curves to complement the organic warmth of the space.
“Arched and curvilinear forms flow through the space—walls, entrances, and niches—adding sculptural softness to the design.”
The house features simple shades and tones throughout. Each element—from the dining table to the beds, the sofa, and even the window seating was made alike with the principles of subtle, understated, comfortable, and highly functional.
