As an interior designer, each project presents a unique canvas on which creativity and functionality converge. Designing a weekend home is a particularly enriching experience, blending personal tastes with the client’s desires for a holiday retreat that embodies relaxation and style.
The boulevard home is situated near Nal Sarovar, away from the city and amidst space that breathes and dictates much of the design direction. Here, the design aims to integrate seamlessly with the natural surroundings, incorporating local stone or reclaimed wood for a rustic yet elegant atmosphere. The weekend house has living and dining space, a kitchen, 2 bedrooms, and verandahs.
Editor’s Note: Nestled amidst the serene embrace of Nal Sarovar, the Boulevard Home unfolds as a poetic holiday retreat, a sanctuary where rustic charm meets quiet sophistication. Every corner whispers tranquility, inviting you to unwind, connect, and rediscover joy. It’s a harmonious blend of nature’s serenity and timeless elegance, crafted for soulful living. ~ Isha Bora

Every piece of furniture serves a dual purpose: to enhance the living experience and blend seamlessly with the surroundings. Furniture and décor are carefully curated to balance aesthetic appeal with practicality.
Quality pieces that withstand the test of time are chosen, often with an emphasis on comfort and durability. Upholstery and textiles reflect the natural surroundings, with materials chosen for their tactile appeal and resilience.

Each room in a weekend home is a personalized sanctuary. Both the bedrooms are designed for restful sleep, with luxurious bedding, jute curtains, and serene décor. The bedrooms, overlooking the front and back gardens, have cane headboards with linen bedding, jute rugs from Jaipur rugs and artefacts from Sarita Handa. However, the customized kitchen has a black granite platform with oak and black finish cabinets and a jute rug from Jaipur rugs.
Beyond aesthetics, a weekend home is about curating experiences. Outdoor spaces are as carefully considered as indoor ones, with landscaped gardens, sun-drenched decks, and verandahs. Overall, it creates opportunities for relaxation and connection with nature.
Designing a weekend home is a multifaceted journey that blends artistic expression with functional requirements and environmental stewardship. As an interior designer, each project represents a chance to create a space that not only reflects the client’s vision but also enriches their lives—a retreat where every weekend feels like a well-deserved escape.
In crafting these sanctuaries, we as designers weave together elements of style, comfort, and sustainability. Additionally, it creates spaces that resonate deeply with those who inhabit them. Moreover, each weekend home project is a testament to the power of design to transform spaces into havens of peace, beauty, and joy.
