  • This Gurugram Retreat Creates a Quiet World Where Everyday Life Slows Down | Studio Navya

Home to a family of three and their two fluffy Persian cats, this apartment offers a quiet retreat from the bustle of the city. The design creates a grounded, tactile, and deeply personal environment. It captures the essence of a home within, shaped by memory and comfort. Every corner reflects care and intention. Natural textures and warm tones layer the interiors with character. As the spaces flow seamlessly into one another, they create a lasting sense of continuity and peace.

    Entrance

The entryway uses a soft arch and abstract wallpaper by Life n Colors to introduce a hint of playfulness. Colour and materiality connect this space to the rest of the home while allowing it to maintain its own identity. It creates a gentle prelude to the home’s quieter rhythm, offering an intentional pause before the spaces unfold.

    Living & Dining

The open-plan living and dining area is designed for comfort and connection. A mustard sofa, olive-green chairs, and the hand-threaded Ganga artwork by Enii Living bring colour and character to the living room. Wooden ceiling beams and ample natural light complement these elements and enhance the warmth of the space.

The dining area features an eight-seater table in a knotty pine finish, surrounded by rattan chairs and a patterned bench for flexible seating. Above, twelve custom wall plates by Clay Chronicles echo the home’s colour palette, tying the story together.

    Kitchen

Pocket doors conceal the kitchen just off the dining area. Wooden veneer and taupe PU-finish cabinetry, accented with black metal profiles, create an efficient and refined space. Also connected to the living and dining space, the study serves as a functional yet inviting workspace.

Built-in shelving provides both display and storage, creating a refined backdrop for Zoom calls. Soft blue cabinetry and a warm wooden desk add depth and comfort to the space. A textured rug by Loops by LJ adds another layer of warmth. A canvas by Dessineart brings a pop of colour to the setting.

Another arched opening beside the dining leads to a passage connecting the private areas, continuing the home’s warm material palette, with wooden ceiling beams extending through for visual continuity. A gallery wall of black-and-white family photographs adds a personal touch, transforming the corridor into an intimate storytelling zone.

    Powder Room

The adjoining powder room embraces a tactile sensibility with a stone-tiled feature wall, beige microconcrete surfaces, and patterned flooring with black inserts. A petrified wood basin, by Stone Art,  paired with brushed brass fittings turns the compact space into a statement of materiality.

    Master Bedroom

In the master bedroom, the printed veneer (by Pllum Legno) headboard, pendant lights by LxBxH, and limewash-finished walls together form a composed focal point, adding texture and depth without the need for additional art. The muted palette is lifted with checkered green and blue armchairs that lend a touch of colour.

Sliding fluted-glass doors separate the bedroom from the dresser, maintaining privacy while allowing light to filter through. A compact study nook with a rattan chair by Lap & Dado doubles as a workspace and is one of two study areas designed for their work-from-home routine.

    Guest Bedroom

The guest bedroom pairs muted microconcrete walls with wicker baskets, from Whispering Homes and Gulmohar Lane, styled as wall art that adds depth and subtle black-and-mustard accents. Handmade fluted clay sconces by Harshita Jamtani and an oak veneer headboard introduce crafted texture, while a neutral rug and sleek white PU wardrobe balance the look.

    Son’s Room

The son’s room features a playful, jungle-themed wallpaper custom-designed by Design by Metamorph. A sofa-cum-bed offers flexibility- single for playtime and expandable for future sleepovers- while open cubbies keep toys and games accessible. The textured rug by Loops by LJ, customized to match the wallpaper palette, ties the space together with tactile charm.

Every element, from art to texture, comes together to create a home that feels lived-in, layered, and personal. It is a space that hums softly with the rhythm of its inhabitants, where daily rituals unfold with ease, light shifts gently across textured walls, and the essence of home is felt as much as it is seen. A calm, introspective home that balances warmth, craft, and modern ease.
