The space in Goa has been designed as the first home for a young couple, Abhishek and Roselle, who spend their time between London and Goa. The home owners wanted a soft, neutral aesthetic, a little different from the usual heavier, colonial-style homes that dominate South Goa, yet retaining some of the traditional essence. Post initial discussions, we arrived at a contemporary design style with a warm color palette, blending minimalistic design and hints of an old-world charm with a touch of Japandi elegance. The home is more an extension of the clients personalities and preferences.

This Goa Home Has A Soft, Neutral Aesthetic | Studio Tilt
A first home for a couple in their mid-thirties, this contemporary home is a sublime retreat. It blends minimalistic design and hints of an old-world charm with a touch of Japandi elegance. Bathed in natural light and warm hues, the space radiates opulence through simplicity. With its harmonious fusion of modern and vintage elements, the home makes for an inviting and timeless haven.
Mostly comprising almond and creamy hues, a few accent elements like art or rugs, and the occasional black statement furniture piece lend some boldness to a somewhat refined interior. Hints of traditional molding to the chairs and a bit of brass or gold used in lights and knobs add a touch of old-world charm and familiarity to the contemporary palette.
One enters the living space that adjoins the dining and kitchen areas, and a passage at the end leads to the two bedrooms.
The couple’s love for entertaining transformed the living area into the heart of their home, embodying minimalistic elegance with Japandi charm. Flooded with natural light, the space exudes opulence through warm hues and sophisticated simplicity. By blending formal and informal elements, the room achieves a welcoming warmth.
Bathed in hues of cream and caramel, statement pieces such as the abstract Obeetee rug and an origami cluster of lights from Fig Living add a sense of boldness and life to a somewhat refined interior. A majestic grandfather rocking chair from Wooden Street and coffee table set from Fleck sit perfectly against the organic rust and beige rug that ties the space together.
Against the window lies an informal bench seating that ends with an in-built planter to add a touch of green. This carefully curated balance creates an inviting ambience, perfect for both intimate gatherings and lively social events, making it a true reflection of the couple’s style and hospitality.
Adjoining the living area are the kitchen and dining spaces that showcase a refined spectrum of almond hues, with a few bold elements that weave luxury into the design narrative.
Dominated by a beige tone-on-tone palette, a central wooden table, and black, Tom Dixon-inspired glass lights from Whispering Homes anchor the space.
A custom-made statement black sideboard console and dining chairs introduce a bold contrast to the otherwise monochromatic mood. Meanwhile, the bench seating adds a touch of ease for prolonged conversations. Between the sand-colored cabinets with marble and brass knobs lies a statement piece of art collected by the home owners on their travels across Europe.
A slender breakfast counter leads the way and transitions through to the kitchen with ivory cabinetry from Livspace, separated by a terrazzo tiled backsplash. Meanwhile, most of the furniture is custom made, furnishings are from Home & Lifestyle, Goa. Additionally, the decor is sourced from Ellementry, Whispering Homes, Fab India Home, and Muun Home Décor, amongst others.
The bedrooms were designed to be idyllic, snowy oases, offering perfect measures of peace and calm. Moreover, the master bedroom is a pastel haven, with splashes of powder blue adding charm to an otherwise all-white palette. However, seating by the window makes for a perfect’me-time’ spot to curl up.
The play of natural light on white surfaces creates spatial depth by day. Meanwhile, the mood lighting provides a serene glow at night. All things vanilla and cream, the guest bedroom extends the minimalistic elegance dominating the home. A fluted panel detail in a peach-terracotta shade runs through the wardrobe. Meanwhile, the headboard adds a touch of warmth to the space.
The seating by the window makes for a perfect ‘me-time’ spot to curl up with a book, sip on a cuppa, and gaze out. It is flanked by a work desk on one side. It also features a bookshelf on the other, created within a wall niche.
The bedding is from H&M Home, whereas the décor is sourced from Modern Quests, Whispering Homes, Home Centre, and Nestasia, amongst others.
