This 3500 sq. ft. aesthetic salon and beauty studio located in the leafy neighborhood of Jubilee Hills, is an example of quiet transformation—an old bungalow re imagined into a boutique salon that feels more like a retreat than a commercial space.
The client, a renowned makeup artist in Hyderabad, had long envisioned a space that was more than just a salon. She imagined a sanctuary—pleasant, breezy, and soothing to the senses—where clients could experience not just a makeover, but a complete escape from the city’s hustle.
Editor’s Note: Tucked away in the quiet lanes of Jubilee Hills, this salon feels less like a place of service and more like a soft exhale. An old home lovingly reimagined, it offers warmth, light, and ease, where time slows, senses unwind, and every visit feels like a gentle pause from the world. ~Isha Bora
This Aesthetic Salon in Jubilee Hills Offers More Than Just Beauty Services | Lokirev Designs
Originally built over three decades ago, the structure came with its share of complications – weather-worn, structurally compromised, but full of spatial potential. The goal was to preserve its character while adapting it for a high-functioning, serene salon environment. The salon was envisioned as a place of pause; a space where clients could feel unhurried and completely at ease.
One of the most significant challenges was a collapsed slab section. Instead of opting for structural reconstruction, the designers transformed the damaged zone into a courtyard that now acts as a central lightwell—flooding adjacent interiors with daylight and creating a natural focal point.
This intervention greatly improved the spatial experience, introducing visual connections to greenery and sky from nearly every corner. Cross-ventilation was enhanced, and the overall layout now feels more expansive despite the building’s inward-facing plan. Designers approached the space not as a commercial salon, but as a boutique retreat. Every intervention was deliberate: light-filled spaces, breezy layouts, and calm tones that invite you to slow down.
The design incorporates carefully crafted arched openings at key points throughout the salon. These arches introduce a sense of elegance and timelessness, softly framing views and transitions between spaces. Their graceful curves contrast with the clean lines of the furniture and partitions, adding a subtle layer of luxury without overwhelming the calm.
The 3,500 sq. ft. bungalow allowed to segment the studio into distinct zones while maintaining visual connectivity and flow. Each zone of the salon is designed to respond to a different pace and need—beginning with a soft, welcoming reception and gradually transitioning into more private treatment areas. The space unfolds as a sequence of sensory experiences: Natural light, hushed acoustics, and intimate scale. The space was designed to encourage guests to enjoy multiple services at once, whether its manicures, pedicures or hair services.
As the first point of contact, this area was designed to feel open and welcoming. Use of natural light, soft furnishings, and custom cabinetry make the space feel more like a living room than a commercial entry.
Strategically placed adjacent to the reception, the coffee station serves as a gentle buffer between the welcoming lounge and the treatment zones. It offers clients a moment to relax with a warm drink, easing the transition from arrival to the salon experience.
The makeover areas balance privacy with openness. Mirrors enhance depth, while the existing huge trees create a calm experience.
The design tucks these areas deeper into the plan to create tranquility. It thoughtfully spaces each station to ensure unhindered circulation and maximum client comfort.
Overlooking the courtyard, the pedicure area benefits from an abundance of soft natural light flowing in through the lightwell. Strategically placed, huge mirrors reflect the bounced-off daylight, amplify brightness. This connection to the courtyard adds a tranquil outdoor quality to what is often an enclosed treatment area.
The design also accounts for operational efficiency, integrating storage and service zones discreetly within the plan. Concealed cabinetry, tucked-in prep counters, and seamless circulation allow the staff to work smoothly without the space ever feeling “busy.” This invisible layer of functionality actively maintains the salon’s visual calm by delivering real, everyday ease.
The neutral palette evokes a feeling of effortless sophistication while reflecting both warmth and restraint.
A defining feature of the project is its commitment to custom fabrication. The studio designed and built every piece of furniture—from the reception desk and nail bar to the cabinetry and seating—to suit the space, scale, and brand aesthetic. This ensured a seamless dialogue between architecture and interior elements.
This space blends old-world charm with modern elegance, turns challenges into opportunities, and uses design not just to beautify, but to heal and uplift.
