  • The Rooted Design Of This Home Has A Sense Of Warmth & Craft | Studio Timescape

Every home carries a story within its walls- a story not just of the people who live in it, but of the spaces that shape their daily lives. For this 1650 sqft. residence in Jaipur, Studio Timescape envisioned a rooted design that would weave together comfort, craft, and contemporary elegance. The brief was simple yet profound: to create a home that feels rooted yet refreshing, one that balances the charm of traditional detailing with the lightness of modern design. The interiors, therefore, are not just about furniture and finishes; they are about experiences. Each room is imagined as a mood, each corner as a pause. Natural textures, crafted details, and thoughtful layering of color and light lend the residence a warmth that invites you in and urges you to stay.

The Foyer – A Sculptural Threshold

The rooted design journey begins at the foyer, where a sculpted mural in Gwalior Mint stone commands immediate attention. Executed in CNC precision, the artwork reveals an intricate play of geometry and texture, becoming more than just a visual anchor- it sets the tone for the entire home. It speaks to the craft, calmness, and deliberate layering that Studio Timescape envisioned for this residence.

Grounding this statement wall is an organic-shaped rug from Cocoon Fine Rugs, whose fluid form and tactile weave soften the otherwise geometric language of the foyer. Its subtle tones and hand-finished artistry establish an immediate sense of warmth, welcoming the user into a home where materiality is celebrated at every step.

The foyer seamlessly connects to the spaces on either side, creating an open atmosphere without compromising intimacy. To the left lies the living room, and to the right, the dining- each visible, yet distinctly its own. This arrangement encourages a rooted design and interaction, making the home feel welcoming and connected from the very first step inside.

The Living Room – Hosting in Calm Elegance

The living room embodies the project’s central vision- creating a space where people can gather, converse, and linger, all within an atmosphere of subtle calm. Studio Timescape translated this intent into a rooted design that avoids excess, instead leaning on crafted details, tactile materials, and a palette that feels both grounded and inviting.

    rooted design

The centrepiece of the room is a striking Cocoon Fine Rug, whose painterly abstraction introduces an artful dynamism underfoot. Its layered hues act as a unifying canvas, holding together the understated walls, the warmth of wood, and the softness of upholstery. Upon it rests a collection of Furnicasa furniture in Babool (Acacia) wood, chosen for its rich grain and durability. The rooted design of each piece balances comfort with craft- rounded sofas upholstered in quiet neutrals, paired with cane-accented lounge chairs that nod to tradition while keeping the form contemporary.

    rooted design

At the heart of the arrangement lies a handcrafted solid wood coffee table, styled with florals, marble accents, and subtle decorative pieces. Together, they form vignettes of intimacy that shift with every perspective—whether viewed from the deep plum chairs, from behind the carved wooden screen, or across the soft glow of the layered lighting.

Punctuated by greenery, textured cushions, and a backdrop of artisanal details, the living room becomes more than just a functional zone- it is a frame for shared experiences. Here, conversations stretch easily into the evening, and the design philosophy of Studio Timescape reveals itself: timeless, human-centric spaces where elegance emerges from restraint.

The Dining Room – A Rhythm of Sophistication

To the right of the foyer lies the dining area, conceived as a space of quiet sophistication. A wall panelling detailed with geometric patterns creates rhythm and depth, while an elegant wooden arch frames the transition. At its centre, a sleek dining table is styled with earthy ceramics and fresh florals, paired with upholstered chairs in muted rose tones that soften the overall palette. Above, a textured ceiling detail and crystal chandelier add refinement without overpowering the serenity of the space.

    The Details

What makes this room remarkable are the thoughtful layers of design. A carved niche with jali-inspired detailing doubles as a prayer corner, grounding the space in cultural resonance. Adjacent to it, the pooja room clad in Onyx stone adds a luminous depth, glowing subtly with natural veining and creating a spiritual anchor within the home. The dining wall also conceals a hidden door seamlessly integrated into the panelling, a detail that exemplifies Studio Timescape’s belief in design that is as functional as it is refined.

Together, the dining room becomes more than a place for meals. It is a setting of rhythm, ritual, and shared memory, where tradition and modernity exist in quiet balance.

Elder Son’s Bedroom – A Calm Cocoon of Light and Geometry

The elder son’s bedroom carries forward Studio Timescape’s ethos of crafting spaces that are as serene as they are striking. Here, geometry becomes both structure and ornament. The bed’s backdrop is defined by a sweeping arched panel with soft grooves. It is illuminated with concealed lighting that transforms it into a glowing halo. This subtle architectural gesture elevates the room from ordinary to sculptural, allowing the walls themselves to participate in the design.

The material palette leans towards the muted and tactile. A natural jute rug underfoot lends earthy warmth. Layers of textiles in soft blush and ivory bring comfort to the bed. Accents of burgundy in the cushions add depth without overpowering the neutral envelope. The side tables are styled lightly—with striped ceramics, fresh flowers, and greenery—introducing intimacy and freshness to the setting.

An organic full-length mirror framed within a tall arch emerges as one of the room’s most compelling details. Its fluid silhouette contrasts beautifully against the room’s otherwise linear rhythm, becoming both a design statement and a playful anchor.

Placed before it is a shaped Cocoon rug in tones of rust, ivory, and mustard. It enlivens the floor with bold geometry and soft tactility. Alongside, a drop console in solid mango wood adds sculptural depth. With its carved legs, it completes the vignette with a balance of craft and functionality.

The attached bath continues the dialogue of simplicity and detail. Pared-back stone finishes, clean lines, and a frameless round mirror enhances the sense of calm. Together, these elements make the elder son’s bedroom a true retreat. It is restful in its palette, inventive in its geometry, and human in its touch.

Younger Son’s Bedroom – Sharp Lines, Fresh Greens

The younger son’s bedroom is defined by clarity, edge, and modernity. Built on a palette of grey and green, the space embraces straight lines and sharp profiles. Thus, creating a room that feels contemporary and composed while staying connected to nature.

The bed rests against a striking backdrop, complemented by lush clusters of indoor palms that form a living green wall. This infusion of greenery softens the geometry of the room. It also blurs the line between inside and outside, bringing a sense of calm vitality to the younger son’s retreat.

Custom cabinetry in ash-toned wood and deep grey laminates features fluted glass shutters and matte black hardware, balancing precision with warmth. A streamlined dresser corner, accented with minimal décor, completes the space with quiet elegance. Ceramic vases, glass bottles, and a muted palette amplify the clean aesthetic.

Underfoot, another shaped rug from Cocoon Fine Rugs animates the floor. In hues of grey, beige, and rust, its organic contours offer a playful counterpoint to the room. This stands out in the otherwise straight-lined discipline, ensuring the space feels youthful yet refined.

Together, the layering of sharp edges, fresh greens, and crafted details creates a bedroom that resonates with the younger son’s energy—modern, crisp, and vibrant, yet still deeply restful.

    Conclusion

The residence is ultimately an exploration of balance: between modernity and tradition, openness and intimacy, geometry and fluidity. Through careful materiality, bespoke craft, and thoughtful detailing, Studio Timescape has created a home where design flows effortlessly—quiet in its presence, but lasting in its impression.
