The “Vestige” means a smaller fraction of something that holds a bigger value. The house was for a family of 5, where they spent most of their time together in the common areas. Thus, sharing a common value base for the family, bound by love & togetherness, and wanting to bring the space value into their home. The brief was to design a home where the heart of the home lies in its common areas, where the entire family could come together daily to have their meals and enjoy. This was designed to be versatile, expandable, and easy to maintain since the family has kids and also loves to host guests frequently. The entire home was made with the utmost care given to clean lines and materials and an open floor plan design that would seamlessly blend to paint a very modern contemporary picture.
The Open Floor Plan Design Redefines Family Living in This Home | 5S Designs
Furniture in the Vestige House leans toward minimalism—sleek, low-profile pieces that prioritize comfort and clean lines. The living room features a set of sofas with a smooth silhouette. Additionally, it is paired with a statement coffee table made from metal & marble with simple geometric shapes. Chairs and side tables are usually low-slung, blending modernity with organic textures. However, the idea is to create a sense of sophistication without cluttering the space.
The Vestige House is a blend of style, functionality, and innovation. Additionally, it creates a living space that is not only aesthetically pleasing but also comfortable and adaptable to modern life. The design features clean lines, open spaces, and emphasizes light and texture.
The layout in the house is typically open-plan, designed to encourage fluidity between rooms and create a sense of spaciousness. Additionally, large windows replace or minimize walls, letting in natural light and making the home feel brighter and more connected to the outdoors. Moreover, open spaces encourage interaction and entertainment, with living areas seamlessly merging into dining spaces and kitchens.
One of the defining features of the interiors of Vestige House is the use of neutral color palettes. Shades of white, gray, beige, and earth tones dominate the walls, floors, and larger furniture pieces. Thus, providing a subtle, cohesive background. Moreover, these tones allow for the integration of more vibrant accent colors, whether through artwork, throw pillows, rugs, or accent furniture. The key is to create balance and harmony, allowing the colors to complement each other without overwhelming the space.
Lighting plays a central role in the design of the Vestige House. In addition to maximizing natural light through large windows, modern light fixtures—such as pendant lights, recessed lighting, and wall lights—create layers of illumination.
However, these light sources not only serve a functional purpose but also act as design elements, contributing to the overall atmosphere of the space. In the Vestige House, lighting is dimmable, allowing for versatile moods, from bright and energizing to soft and relaxing.
The materials used in the Vestige House are diverse and high-quality. Metal profiles, glass, polished natural stone, and natural-hue shutters are frequently found in kitchens, bathrooms, and other areas of the home.
Moreover, these materials contribute to the clean, streamlined look of the space while offering durability and ease of maintenance. Textures are key, with luxurious fabrics like suede and linen used in upholstery, soft rugs underfoot, and smooth surfaces in the kitchen and bathroom.
Ultimately, the Vestige House is a reflection of the modern lifestyle—focused on simplicity, functionality, and a blend of aesthetics and technology. The space is curated to enhance day-to-day living, fostering an atmosphere of calm, sophistication, and ease. Justifying the inception of its concept, the Vestige House provides a sanctuary that is as stylish as it is livable.
