In this thoughtfully designed 1350 sqft apartment in Jaipur, Studio Timescape delivers a sensitive yet bold response to contemporary Indian living. The home is a warm, tactile canvas where traditional craftsmanship, storytelling design, and modern-day utility converge seamlessly. Conceived for a multi-generational family, the space balances a layered design of personal expression with shared values-each room reflecting its inhabitants while speaking a common design language rooted in material honesty and emotional comfort.
The Layered Design Of This Jaipur Apartment Unfolds Into A Traditional Modern Home | Studio Timescape
The journey begins with a warm entrance foyer that offers more than just a threshold- it’s a quiet pause before the home unfolds. Clad in rich Sheesham wood (Indian rosewood) cabinetry and softened by ambient lighting, the space features curated shelves adorned with books, artefacts, and a sense of gentle order. This transition space sets the tone for the spatial and emotional rhythm that follows.
As you move inward, the living room embraces vibrance without excess. A dramatic floral wallpaper, evocative of vintage Indian textiles, adds narrative depth and visual warmth.
Paired with cozy ivory seating, a handcrafted Sheesham wood coffee table, and carefully chosen accents like an acoustic guitar, yellow blooms, and tribal curios, the room radiates lived- in charm.
A layered design of textures-woven baskets, slatted wood, soft upholstery underscores the ethos of soulful minimalism, where every element is intentional, and nothing feels contrived.
The adjoining dining area extends this story of warmth and material richness. A deep teal wall grounds the space, creating a bold yet intimate backdrop for the handcrafted wooden dining table. Surrounding it, mustard upholstered chairs with white woven backrests introduce a soft artisanal contrast.
Above and around, a curated mix of modern fluted-glass cabinetry and repurposed antique shelving weaves in both function and nostalgia. Light filters in through full-length botanical curtains from the balcony, bathing the space in a breezy, relaxed glow ideal for long conversations and quiet meals alike.
The grandparents’ bedroom takes a lighter, more heritage-inspired route. Crafted in mango wood with cane weave shutters and a rattan headboard, the room feels both airy and grounded.
A blue vertical striped wallpaper-reminiscent of handloom fabrics-serves as the visual centerpiece, creating a quiet rhythm without overwhelming the senses. The palette of creams, soft blues, and warm woods evokes a timeless calm rooted in memory.
Private spaces continue the narrative of tactile luxury and emotional resonance. The parents’ bedroom, also anchored in Sheesham wood, offers a serene palette of olive greens and natural browns.
An upholstered headboard, Ikat-printed bedding, and a cozy bay window nook reflect the room’s embrace of softness and intimacy. Subtle details like a bedside pendant light and handcrafted decor reinforce the atmosphere of understated elegance.
In striking contrast, the kids’ bedroom breaks into a world of play and imagination. Inspired by the beloved anime One Piece, the room is a spirited interpretation of the Straw Hat Pirates universe. From emerald green walls to a custom pirate ship mural, every element is curated to evoke adventure.
Furniture made from Babool (acacia) wood with PU finish ensures both durability and vibrancy. A custom study table blends functionality with fun, doubling as a workstation and display nook-encouraging creativity while staying organized.
Throughout the home, Studio Timescape employs a restrained yet expressive palette-muted greens, deep blues, soft creams-elevated through handcrafted finishes, bold wallpapers, and natural fibers. Wood, in its many forms- Sheesham, Mango, Babool– serves not just as material, but as narrative. Lighting is designed as mood rather than mere function, with pendants, sconces, and under-cabinet glows enhancing each space’s emotional tone.
This is a home where layered design goes beyond form, it becomes memory, movement, and meaning. A space where tradition is not simply preserved, but consciously reimagined. And where every corner, every surface, and every detail contribute to a life well-lived.
