The Crossboundaries is an architecture and interior design studio founded by Harsh Boghani in Vadodara. The studio blends culture and innovation in every project.
In the following conversation with Harsh Boghani, he shares his design philosophy and his beliefs for running the studio.
The Crossboundaries emerged with a singular vision: to redefine design’s boundaries. With passion as our compass, we have crafted spaces that transcended convention, blending culture and innovation.
Thought of freedom to design and dare to dream beyond the ordinary made us commence our own design studio.
Our design philosophy is a by-products of amalgamation of great team with unique ideas. We believe coming from the private realm, we have the responsibility to do our part in enriching the lives of people and communities. The integration of our approach to architecture allows us to do that. Here at THE CROSSBOUNDARIES; artists, sculptors, designers to owners, we do what it takes and care how it’s done. We wish to create a sense of wonder and excitement when one enters a space designed by us. Also we do it by marrying artistic methods of design with Architecture and Interiors. Our approach is very chaotic upfront. Our interest in art, fashion, lifestyle, travel and design is reflected in varied palette of works done. We look at design holistically often blurring the boundaries between the disciplines of architecture, interior design, landscape, product and lighting.
Nature is the inspiration behind our concepts. We strive to innovate out of the ordinary and mimic the smallest part of nature making it a part of design.
The idea of never being satisfied with your design is a philosophy rooted in continuous improvement and innovation. It means refusing to settle for mediocrity and constantly seeking ways to enhance and evolve your creations. This mindset transcends design; it applies to all aspects of life. By never becoming complacent and always striving for improvement, you open yourself up to new possibilities, challenges, and opportunities for growth. It’s about embracing change, pushing boundaries, and ultimately, leaving a lasting impact through your work and actions.
The Crossboundaries believe in harmonizing with the natural environment rather than imposing upon it. This ethos guides every aspect of our work, ensuring that our designs not only coexist with nature but also enhance its beauty and integrity.
My project journey began with designing a raw loft apartment, facing the challenge of managing services in an open-concept space. Despite being a novice, I tackled the task meticulously, resulting in winning the Best Residential Apartment Interiors Award in India. This experience taught me the importance of perseverance, innovation, and attention to detail in design.
Well, Internet is a blessing from getting the knowhow of exhibitions till understanding the new tools of design it is very difficult to name one tool for the same as every year we experiment with multiple software’s to make us innovate better on every passing day.
In my designs, I prioritize factors such as layout optimization, natural lighting, color psychology, and ergonomic furniture selection to enhance functionality and foster a positive atmosphere. This is achieved by multiple factors firstly understanding the basics of vastu to having a work experience under multiple firms abroad I have learnt my way to optimize a space as per user requirement.
Well material sourcing and staying updated with the every growing market today is important to use the right material palette for projects. We try to work within the design language to use the right material palette as per the design language assigned.
Apart from designing, traveling serves as a boundless wellspring of inspiration for me. Exploring new cultures, landscapes, and architectures broadens my perspective and enriches my creative process. Whether it’s wandering through bustling city streets, immersing myself in serene natural surroundings, or marveling at historic landmarks, each journey fuels my passion for design and infuses fresh ideas into my work. Traveling ignites my curiosity, stimulates my senses, and nurtures a deep appreciation for the beauty and diversity of the world, ultimately driving me to push the boundaries of creativity in my designs.
The aspect of interior design that fulfills me the most is crafting spaces that evoke emotions, foster connections, and elevate experiences. Creating atmospheres that tell stories and facilitate human connection brings me immense satisfaction. Additionally, the freedom to innovate and collaborate adds richness to the design process, making it rewarding on multiple levels.
We at The Crossboundaries wish to never repeat our designs for any project. This is the utmost commitment which shall help us innovate better as per every growing project.
Well, be true to nature and respect nature.
