This exciting project is the designer’s own 2BHK home. The designer played two roles: the client and the designer. The brief was simply to portray her personality in the home design. Then beautiful blend of different styles and colours was the main concept for this 2bhk home with an enclosed balcony. The mixture of different styles and colours would be the USP of this project.
Editor’s Note: “Upon stepping into this abode, one is graciously welcomed by a vibrant splash of colours. Earthy wooden elements complement the dusty blue kitchen, while vibrant printed fabrics and colour-blocked rugs create a warm, inviting atmosphere. Every element, fabric, and material seamlessly blend, weaving a narrative close to the designer’s heart.” ~Simran Khare

The internal passage consists of doors and loft shutters that blend in the same finish to have a seamless and clean visual from the living area. Also, an additional glass door gives privacy to the bedrooms.
The sunlight in this space is quite low, and for that, we have used a lot of glass partitions with wooden frames so the light doesn’t block bright colours to attract more light.
There were many concrete lofts that had to be maintained due to structural issues. We had to conceal them behind panelling and shutters to make them look like a part of our design. Fluted veneer plays a major role as the base of the tables and mandir.
Due to insufficient sunlight, we had to make the kitchen openable to allow extra light to flow in and make the space brighter. The passage area panelling is a combination of dual grey tones with brass patti and an organic-shaped mirror.
A lot of wood finishes can be seen in this house. We have used wood and textured glass in the form of doors and partitions in the living room. It has also been used in loose furniture like the swing and in the ceiling of the enclosed balcony.
It’s a colour splash as soon as we enter the residence. From the dusty blue kitchen to the dual-coloured sofa, to the printed fabrics and the colour-blocking rug, the designer’s intent portrays beautifully. The most beautiful wall would be the family portraits near the dining area.
The rattan back of the swing perfectly compliments the printed fabric, and the black table tops give that perfect balance. On the other hand, the TV wall has concrete fluted tiles with open shelves.
The master bedroom is a beautiful combination of rust headboard and deep blue units, balancing it with muted wardrobes.
The parent’s bedroom has a subtle vibe with self-designed wallpaper and an arched dresser.
Also, the multipurpose use of furniture like the back of the swing can turn in both directions and the seating near the window is foldable, so there can be maximum utilisation of the space
