In this residential interior, walls are treated as inhabitable structures and spatial elements rather than partitions, shaping space through depth, continuity, and measured mass. The project operates as a system of thickened planes where architecture absorbs storage, seating, thresholds, and services, allowing space to remain open while functionally complete.

Located in Mumbai, the apartment responds to dense urban living where storage, privacy, and openness must coexist. The brief called for a calm, continuous home accommodating living, working, and gathering without reliance on excessive furniture or rigid partitions. The design addresses this by embedding function within architectureitself.
The apartment is organized as a continuous spatial system structured through thickened planes. A repeatable kit of elements niches, storage volumes, seating edges, and thresholds is deployed with controlled variation to maintain coherence. Surfaces fold, step, and recess to establish hierarchy through depth, alignment, and mass rather than enclosure. Privacy emerges through offset and spatial compression, while monolithic elements anchor the otherwise fluid field.
A central living spine organizes the plan, with private spaces branching as recessed zones. Circulation operates as a spatial gradient, guided by shifts in thickness and proportion rather than corridors. Spaces are experienced as variations within a continuous field, defined by expansion and compression.
A restrained palette of light wood, marble flooring, textured plaster, and stone reinforces spatial clarity. Subtle metal trims sharpen transitions, while material continuity allows geometry and depth to define the experience.
By transforming walls into liveable elements, the project integrates architecture and furniture into a unified system. It proposes an approach to urban living based on continuous adaptability, and spatial coherence rather than accumulation.
