A particularly demanding aspect of the retail design project was to create a store for self-illuminating product…AND MANY! In response to the constraint, the central theme of bringing a notion of concealment and revelation through a systematic series of layers emerged. Thus, the design of the White teak company – Lido mall store can be described as the intricate interplay of ‘Hide and Reveal’.
Editor’s Note: Choreography of Spaces captivates a vibrant spatial experience in this new retail space. Curating space with a new approach, where each piece is merely a product but acts as a space decor. With various layers of textures and the incorporation of vibrant hues, each space allures a brand new visual experience for its visitors. ~Rajvi Dedakiya
Retail Design At White Teak Uses Hide And Reveal To Captivate Customers | Choreography of Spaces
The approach creates a curating experience preventing overwhelming display of products. This form of controlled layers ensured to create an environment where the lights, decor and artworks act both as a merchandise and integral component of the overall spatial design.
The deliberate manipulation of depths is achieved through a layered design that is further accentuated by the end conditions – like artworks, highlighter colours green / red.
The design intentionally introduces an element of controlled randomness within a systematic series of partitions (layers). As a result, this creates an ever-changing and engaging circulation. This ensures that every visit to the store unfolds a different visual journey. Moreover, it encourages the customer to walk through the entire space.
The incorporation of red and green as the highlighter colour and the use of tropical wallpaper negate the prevailing grey palette of the space. Furthermore, these elements add visual interest and vibrancy.
The use of pinstriped black and white tile in the highlighter floor is subtly revealed in the partitions. Moreover, it contrasts beautifully with the stripes of zebra and lemur on the tropical wallpaper.
To elevate the overall aesthetics, the display grids in gold and mirror panels introduce a touch of gloss that adds to the visual texture.
Niche, display grids, and stack tables display products at variable heights. Additionally, the variable backdrop and material palette work together to create a dynamic visual experience.
In essence, the interior design of the White Teak store in Lido Mall is a thoughtful integration of layers and materials. Furthermore, it creates an interesting envelope for the display of products without overpowering their presence.
