In the heart of Mumbai’s suburban sprawl, this three-bedroom home for a mother-daughter duo blends thoughtful architecture, warm materiality, and quiet elegance to create a timeless sanctuary.
Nestled within the bustling suburbs of Mumbai, this rare spacious home was designed for a dynamic pair—a doctor with a demanding schedule and her multitalented daughter, who juggles music, books, and competitions with equal passion. Their brief was clear: they wanted a space that felt expansive yet grounded, minimal yet expressive, and above all, peaceful. Architecturally, the house was envisioned as a serene shell—an envelope that supports both introspection and creativity. The design language flows from open, cohesive common areas to more expressive, personality-driven private rooms. Soaring ceiling heights, the project’s standout feature, create a sense of volume and lightness that defines every corner of the house.
Quiet Elegance Shapes This Three-Bedroom Home | Jash Kadakiia Design Studio
The shared spaces—the foyer, living, and dining zones—are wrapped in warm oak veneer, softly detailed with fluted textures that bring rhythm to the walls. Dull gold inserts punctuate the surface with just the right amount of restraint, lending an understated sophistication.
A seamless, large-span ceiling visually unifies the spaces, while light fixtures are carefully recessed or surface-mounted to blend into the plane, preserving the serene ceiling line the client insisted upon.
Creamy marble flooring grounds the interiors, forming a neutral base that plays elegantly against the warmth of the veneer and the cool subtlety of white travertine cladding on the sofa wall.
Comfort was paramount in the selection of furnishings—reclining sofas, rotating leather armchairs, and a marble-top dining table from Stanley enhance both relaxation and refinement.
Sculptural walnut legs on the center and dining tables echo the detailing of hand-carved wooden consoles, introducing visual richness. Vibrant accent chairs offer playful contrast, injecting just the right amount of color into the muted palette.
A playful harmony defines the daughter’s room. Curved ceiling and wall lines create softness, while straight horizontal elements—such as dull gold shelving and a fluted glass library—bring in contrast and order.
The space is wrapped in Oikos paint, giving it a cocoon-like warmth, while bright oak veneer boldly punctuates the palette. A metallic PU finish on the wardrobe and bedside table bridges the textures, tying together soft walls and vibrant veneer.
Above, a starry ceiling twinkles with whimsy, while curved linear lighting along the walls creates a lyrical rhythm—an homage to the young occupant’s love for music and movement.
The master suite, designed for the doctor, reflects her composed and uncluttered lifestyle. A white upholstered bed with a classically styled headboard sits against a subtly textured wall, flanked by elegant side tables that elevate the room’s sense of luxury.
A fluted glass panel in a soft brown hue adds depth, while a stone-finished pendant light introduces a material contradiction—its weight softened by a sculptural, ambient glow.
This careful materiality continues into the ensuite bathroom, where marble tiles wrap the space in a seamless canvas.
Polished nickel fixtures, a gold-framed mirror, and ribbed glass wall lights echo the bedroom’s textures. Also, thoughtfully recessed niches offer utility and composure in equal measure, making the compact space feel deliberate and grand.
The multipurpose den distills utility into a refined spatial experience. The space functions as a study, guest room, piano corner, and pooja area, with a design rooted in versatility. Dark Oikos paint forms a dramatic backdrop for a capsule-shaped pearl white mandir—both spiritual and sculptural in presence.
The custom-designed study table functions as a statement piece, with dedicated drawers for study and piano, cleverly integrated into its form.
A brown sofa-cum-bed offers comfort and color, while open shelving and round wall lights double as artistic accents—transforming functional elements into visual highlights within this immersive, hybrid space.
Ultimately, it is the ceiling height that defines the spatial experience of this home—elevating not just the interiors but the very atmosphere. The thoughtful material palette and curated furnishings harmonize to create a home that is both graceful and grounded. This is a place where a mother and daughter will write their own rhythms—surrounded by light, layered textures, and architecture that adapts to their every mood.
