  • Modern thinking and Scandinavian outlines form this luxurious penthouse | Hidden Architects

Taking inspiration from native aesthetical values, ‘Blossom’ is a luxurious penthouse with spaces that are personal and profound.

The client’s mandate was to create a home which upon entering transcends oneself to tranquility and peace. The residence is a luxurious penthouse measuring 3400 sq. ft. with 4 bedrooms, living, dining, kitchen and a private terrace. Sitting on the 11th floor, in one of the prime locations in Surat (India), the apartment offers a panoramic view of the busy and ever growing city.

A home is where you finally rest after a bustling day. Considering this idea, we wanted to provide a cocoon for this small family of three which also resonates with their private lifestyle. The only tangible request from the client was to incorporate french doors and windows. This eventually inspired us to apply the Scandinavian school of thought and English accents.

The house has the peacefulness of a Scandinavian home with muted colors, minimal furniture and functionality. This neutrality is balanced by using minimal floral accents, colors and ornamentation. The material palette is a neat one focusing on the use of natural and earthy materials.

The furniture in the entire residence is carefully handcrafted, curated and customized specifically for the client. Most of the furniture pieces are kept mobile which imparts the free spirited character to the spaces. The entry vestibule opens into the wide living and dining area.

Typically a living room always has a TV Unit. Here the living room is envisioned as a space for the family or friends to come together with no distraction from the media box which is always running in the background.

The residence follows an open planning with minimum partitions and unobstructed views. This seamlessness is enhanced by the 1800 sq. ft. micro concrete floor which sets the tone for the entire house. The earthy and expansive floor transforms the house as a whole.

Instead we have converted one of the smaller bedrooms into a designated entertainment area allowing a better streaming experience. The family is deeply connected to each other and their roots. The bare and gray walls hence adorn their travel experiences, memorabilia and the opportunity to add to their collection of art over time.
