The design philosophy of ‘Equinox’ revolves around minimalism and modernity, focusing on creating an aesthetic that is both functional and emotionally resonant. At its core, the project seeks to reflect the unique cultural blend of its owners — a young couple with Indian and Dutch roots—while embodying the dynamic spirit of contemporary urban living. The concept harmoniously marries Indian urban practicality with Dutch-inspired clean lines and subdued tones. By integrating the warmth of walnut wood with a muted palette, the minimalist and modern interior design ensures a timeless elegance that feels both modern and deeply personal. Inspired by New York loft-style living, the home balances open-plan layouts with carefully curated furniture. Thus, offering fluidity and connectivity between spaces.
Editor’s Note: “Equinox, a residence harmonizes Indian functionality with Dutch minimalism in a stylish, functional, and urban way. It is a refined city home dressed in walnut wood and muted tones. Open-plan schemes, curated furniture, and panoramic city vistas enhance connectivity. Thoughtful detailing to the sleek kitchen and kids-friendly spaces offers sophistication and comfort.” ~ Anusha Sridhar

The entrance serves as an understated prelude to the home’s overall aesthetic. Designed with minimalistic elements, it incorporates fluted textures and subtle geometric patterns to add dimension without overwhelming the space. Rich walnut wood combined with matte finishes introduces the material palette. Meanwhile, the simplicity of the décor sets a welcoming yet sophisticated tone for visitors.
The living room is the heart of the home, epitomizing openness and warmth. The U-shaped sectional sofa—reupholstered and extended from the homeowner’s previous residence—anchors the room. Thus, ensuring ample seating for family and guests.
The panoramic views of Hyderabad’s skyline are framed by large windows. However, it blurs the line between the interior and the vibrant cityscape beyond. Custom furniture pieces, such as coffee and dining tables, were sourced from local vendors to align with the couple’s taste.
The kitchen serves as a key area for the family. Moreover, it features a prominent island that doubles as a functional workspace and a social hub. However, it is designed for hosting and family interactions. The sleek kitchen by SCASA integrates appliances neatly into the back wall, keeping the focus on the island.
Adjacent to this, the bar area stands as a stylish yet practical space for entertaining. Both spaces were designed to prioritise functionality while blending seamlessly with the rest of the home’s minimal and modern aesthetic.
The private spaces of the home reflect a thoughtful balance between comfort and timeless design. The master bedroom follows a muted, earthy palette with walnut wood and textured fabrics, creating a tranquil retreat.
In contrast, the children’s wing brings a lighter, playful energy to the house. The use of oak wood, soft blush accents, and neutral tones ensures adaptability as the twin daughters grow.
A custom play table designed for endless hours of imagination and exploration. From arts and crafts to learning games, it’s the perfect spot for little minds to grow.
The centerpiece of this wing is a custom-designed playroom featuring a ball pit, reading nooks, and concealed storage.
A playful addition to the kids’ room—this swing is where laughter meets design, creating moments of fun and whimsy without compromising on style.
A vanity designed with care—soft blush accents and playful practicality ensure it’s perfect for future moments of self-expression. With soft blush hues and adaptable furniture, this kids’ room strikes the perfect balance between whimsy and sophistication. A space made for growing memories.
