The Risa Home rises above the city skyline with a focus on curated comfort, sensitive modernism, and family heritage. Edwin and Esha Stanley of Concepto Studio designed this 5,400-square-foot penthouse for a lively three-generation Bengali family. The four-bedroom home creates a warm, layered sanctuary that balances contemporary living with a strong sense of heritage.
The design journey began with a minimalist yet sumptuous vision to honour tradition and introduce a sense of luxury. The home also creates a backdrop for evolving family moments. “Warmth meets refined living” shapes every corner, while Concepto Studio brings together memory, modernity, and everyday celebration through its design. The team originally planned the penthouse as a five-bedroom residence. They later reconfigured it into a four-bedroom home to suit the family’s lifestyle and evolving needs.

The living room creates a dramatic first impression with a sculptural red leather couch that immediately draws the eye. An abstract accent wall adds impressionistic energy to the space. Soft white armchairs and ethnic prints balance the bold elements with a quieter, more familiar character.
A gold-hued curved showcase introduces a subtle gleam without overpowering the room. Architectural arches frame the living spaces and bring a sense of warmth. The earthy lime wash connects these details to the home’s heritage roots.
Sunlight brightens the gathering areas and creates a welcoming atmosphere for the family. A lush rug from Carpet Kingdom grounds the room and adds softness underfoot.
Refurbished family furniture brings cherished memories into the contemporary setting. Together, the colours, materials, furniture, and architectural details create a living room that celebrates continuity. They also bring a fresh, modern expression to the space.
The living area organically flows into an open kitchen and breakfast bar, a central hub for the home’s lively routines. The bar itself plays with bold, saturated colors, reflecting mornings filled with sunlight and evenings alive with conversation. Traditional Indian motifs appear in bright wall tiles and playful wallpaper, bringing a sense of nostalgia to the kitchen. The cabinetry’s dark green and cool black tones introduce a cosmopolitan, vintage-inspired mood. Artisanal crockery adds a handcrafted touch, while bespoke art plates above the dining table celebrate the family’s culinary rituals. Together, these details unite tradition and sophistication in a cohesive setting.
The three-generation home unfolds across two levels, with each floor responding to the needs of different generations. The lower level houses the parents’ bedroom and a dedicated home theatre, creating spaces for both comfort and togetherness. The upper level accommodates the master suite and children’s quarters, ensuring privacy while maintaining a strong sense of family connection throughout the home.
Bedrooms are introduced as sanctuaries, each choreographed to the spirit and needs of its inhabitants—yet all sharing a language of detail, warmth, and narrative. The master suite is resplendent in jewelled browns and mossy greens. Here, custom woodwork, rich with fluted accents and ornamental spindles, wraps around a majestic four-poster wicker bed.
The ceiling’s crown mouldings and neat cornices are reminiscent of colonial elegance, while built-in consoles and decorative wardrobe doors punctuate the room with practical artistry. It’s a space where quiet grandeur meets lived-in intimacy.
The second bedroom, designed for the parents, is awash in earthy brown tones and serves as a nod to native design—white wardrobes adorned with ethnic accents, open traditional shelving, and an artful arrangement of framed prints above the bed. The space balances utility with vibrancy, inviting individual expression within an enveloping sense of history.
The children’s suite, created by combining two bedrooms into one expansive space, bursts with storybook charm. A teepee-style bed stretches across the room as a whimsical focal point, its silhouette framed against bespoke wallpaper alive with cranes and pastel botanicals. A suspended wicker swing gently sways nearby, seamlessly joining playful energy and tactile comfort. Wardrobes in pastel blue and spirited orange infuse cheer, while the thoughtful layout offers both room to dream and to grow.
Another bedroom is cast in serene white, its clean palette enlivened by geometric wardrobe accents and waves of cool blue wallpaper. A plush tufted headboard and a floating study table instill a gentle sense of openness, and a window-seat nook becomes an inviting reading and reflection spot—a perfect retreat for the imaginative soul.
Beyond the private zones, the penthouse is punctuated by spaces that foster shared experience. The home theatre, located on the lower floor, is cloaked in deep greys with rich brown couches and tactile wooden flooring, becoming a destination for entertainment and togetherness while enveloping the senses for family film nights. The dining zone, set before a marble wall flecked with gold, celebrates hospitality through a collection of custom art plates: a marriage of artistry and everyday ritual. Every corner, including living and dining furniture, the home theatre sofa, and the parents’ bed, leverages existing family pieces—sensitively refurbished to honor legacy and sustainable luxury.
Persistent throughout The Risa Home is a use of lime-washed finishes by Asian Paints, lending a tactile, changeable glow as daylight shifts—from dawn’s subdued hues to evening’s warmth. Rugs, swings, cane, and carefully selected furnishings elevate each room’s comfort, ensuring the home feels cohesive without ever sacrificing individuality.
At its core, The Risa Home is as much about story as it is about space—a home that opens its arms to tradition and change, gathering memory, artistry, and modern aspiration in equal measure. Concepto Studio’s vision transforms each room into an emotive landscape, where corners hold laughter, walls echo legacy, and every detail is a gentle invitation to daily delight.
