Crafting an exquisite sundowner splendor was the goal of this project. Green Oasis is a sun downer bar bridging humanity and nature enveloped with the focal points of the design being building block A and B. It is located in a secluded enclave near Jampore beach. Building A currently functions as a hotel, but the true design endeavor lies in conceptualizing Daman Culture within a vast 12,500 sq.ft area comprising the ground floor, first floor, terrace of building B, and a bridging structure connecting the terraces of building A and B.

The design requirements dictate a captivating café bar area on the ground floor, fostering a strong connection with nature incorporating organic materials and elements. The first floor was required to cater a functional kitchen and adaptable seating for intimate gatherings, ensuring a seamless aesthetic flow. Terrace B was envisioned to evoke a magical ambiance reminiscent of a Shamiyana Terrace, comfortably accommodating groups while incorporating natural design elements.
The bridge connecting terrace A to terrace B must prioritize privacy and convenience, effortlessly blending with the overall aesthetic. Terrace A faced challenges with existing features such as a swimming pool, extended columns, ducts and plumbing pipes.
These elements were required to strategically and aesthetically integrate while adhering to Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) regulations, which prohibit permanent structures or roofs exceeding 3 feet from the terrace flooring level.
The aspiration was to craft an indelible getaway “experience” that embraces guests from the moment of arrival. This captivating journey unfolds amidst the splendor of tropical accents, enlivening the senses and etching enduring memories.
The concept beautifully emphasizes the fusion of cultural influences that breathe life into a constructed environment. Embraced warmly and surrounded by lush tropical elements, this philosophy aims to cater to a range of activities and amenities, providing a truly memorable getaway.
Drawing inspiration from the nearby wildlife sanctuary, the design incorporates natural accents with a sustainable approach, offering a fresh perspective.
From the choice of materials, including Ferro cement, bamboo, and reclaimed wood, to the incorporation of natural accents such as blooming flowers, mushrooms, and nest-like structures, the design emphasizes a deep appreciation for the natural world. This thoughtful integration not only enhances the visual appeal but also showcases a commitment to environmental consciousness.
The objective was to create Daman Culture as a green sundowner bar that transcends the mere notion of a building but as an idea that bridges the gap between human and nature. A feeling. Like the musty, barky smell of fresh rain on dry earth that fills your lungs and reminds you – what it’s meant to be alive.
Daman Culture redefines the concept of a building, inspiring a deeper appreciation for the interconnectedness of life and showcasing the possibilities of a symbiotic relationship with our surroundings.
