A home renovation loan is a loan offered by banks and other financial institutions to help upgrade your existing home. Unlike the traditional home renovation loan, which is a top-up loan for upgrading or renovating your home, POSB comes with an innovative green renovation loan to upgrade your home to gain green home environmental sustainability.  

How does a renovation home loan work?

To encourage environmental home sustainability, POSB offers a green revolution loan to achieve a green home. The loan is wallet-friendly with an attractive interest rate at 3.88% p.a. The customers can use this loan to improve their home to a green home. 

The existing customers of the bank can apply for a green revolution loan. They can get a minimum loan amount of S$15,000 repayable in 5 years. A green renovation loan is available at interest as low as 3.88% p.a. You can now renovate your home or improve it with an affordable home renovation loan in Singapore.You canutilize the loan to install solar panels and save electricity, shift to a new home or flat, extend the area of your home, add extra rooms, etc. 

How to apply for a renovation loan?

You can apply for a renovation loan online; however, you need to check your eligibility for a renovation loan. For applying for a renovation loan, you should:

  •  Be a permanent resident or Singapore citizen 
  • Of age between 21 and 65 years 
  • Be an owner of the property or a family member related to a property owner and have consent for the loan. Such a person can be a spouse, parent, sibling, or child living in Singapore.
  • Have a minimum income of S$24,000 per annum 
  • Refer to the checklist to confirm if you are eligible for a renovation loan

If you are eligible, you can apply for the loan in just three steps:  

Step 1

You can download and provide the required details in the application online. 

Step 2  

Make a checklist and confirm if you have submitted all the required documents for applying for the loan. The required documents are:

  • Completed application form
  • Scanned copies of quotation or invoice signed by a contractor and applicant(s)
  • Income proof documents
  • Proof of ownership

Step 3  

You have to apply online, and for it, you get assistance from the digibot. Further, you have to authenticate it through a unique Digibank User ID and PIN, ATM, debit or credit card number, and PIN. 

Once your renovation loan in Singapore is approved, the loan amount will be disbursed to the contractors through the cashier’s order(s) after deductions such as handling and insurance fees. The charges for the cashier’s order will be debited to your designated loan servicing account.
