Evara is a sea-facing second home in Worli, and the view was really the starting point for the entire design. When I first looked at the space, I felt the interiors shouldn’t compete with the view outside. The sea and the Bandra-Worli Sea Link already offered so much beauty beyond the windows.
I wanted the interiors to complement the view rather than overpower it. The home follows a soft contemporary direction, with warm neutrals, natural stone, wood and soft upholstery. A few deeper tones add character. Rounded forms and organic detailing bring softness to the furniture and the overall space. These curves make the interiors feel less formal, which was important because Evara is a second home.
I wanted the home to feel luxurious without looking overly designed. For me, luxury comes from the materials, proportions and comfort. Most importantly, it comes from the experience of living with that view.
The idea was to create a home where you can walk in, slow down and spend time with your family. You can simply enjoy being there. The interiors frame this experience rather than take away from it. In many ways, Evara was about knowing when to add something and when to let the sea speak for itself.
Evara Is A Second Home Where The Arabian Sea Becomes The Ultimate Luxury | Tanisha Bansal Interiors
For the entrance, we wanted to keep the first impression of Evara warm, calm and understated. Since the home opens towards the sea, we wanted the foyer to feel light and welcoming. We avoided heavy elements and excessive decoration. Instead, we used a soft, neutral palette with natural materials, warm tones and subtle lighting. These elements create a sense of ease as soon as you walk in.
I wanted the space to feel refined without appearing too formal. We kept the detailing clean and intentional. The foyer now offers a glimpse of the rest of the home. It feels warm, welcoming and quietly luxurious without revealing everything at the first step.
The living room is the heart of Evara and is designed around the home’s strongest feature, its expansive sea-facing view. We kept the furniture comfortable and relaxed, with softer, curved forms that make the space feel more inviting rather than too formal.
The natural stone feature wall adds a little drama, while the darker flooring gives the room some depth and balances the lighter upholstery and warm wood tones.
I wanted the living room to feel luxurious but still like a space where you can actually sit for hours, have conversations, spend time with family and simply look out at the sea. We were quite conscious about not filling the room unnecessarily because the view already brings so much into the space
We wanted the dining and kitchen areas to feel like a natural extension of the living room rather than separate, formal spaces. The dining area sits comfortably between the living and kitchen, so it becomes part of the everyday experience of the home.
I wanted it to feel like a space where meals could stretch into long conversations and family time, rather than just a designated dining area. For the kitchen, we introduced warmer terracotta tones to bring in a little more personality and contrast against the softer palette used throughout the rest of the home.
The kitchen is practical and well integrated, but we also wanted it to feel like part of the overall design rather than something that was visually disconnected from the living spaces.
Overall, we worked towards keeping these spaces warm, functional and easy to live in, which felt especially important for a second home.
The bedrooms at Evara were designed to feel a little quieter and more personal than the common areas.
We wanted each room to have its own character while still feeling connected to the overall language of the home. In the master bedroom, we worked with warm tones, natural stone, soft fabrics and comfortable furniture to create a calm space that feels like a retreat at the end of the day.
I wanted it to feel luxurious without becoming too formal or overly styled. The other bedroom follows the same overall warmth but has a softer, more relaxed character.
Across the private spaces, our focus was really on comfort, choosing materials, colours and details that feel good to live with rather than simply look good in photographs.
One of the most special parts of Evara is the relationship between the interiors and the sea-facing edge of the home. The Arabian Sea and the Bandra-Worli Sea Link are such a strong part of the experience that we treated the view almost like another element of the design.
Rather than adding too much around it, we kept the spaces opening towards the view relatively calm and allowed the changing light and landscape to become part of the home.
I think this is what makes Evara feel very different throughout the day; the home changes with the light, from the softer mornings to the warmer evenings.
For us, these spaces were less about adding another design feature and more about creating moments where you can simply sit back, slow down and take in the view.
