Elephant and Co Pune, a beloved hospitality brand with a presence in three locations across India, approached us with a captivating vision: to transform one of their establishments into a space that exuded warmth, earthiness, and sustainability. With excitement bubbling, we dove headfirst into the project, eager to breathe new life into their 3000 square foot space.
Editor’s Note: “A burst of colours, shapes and materials layered precisely with a backdrop of micro-concrete on the walls embraces this residence in Mumbai. The gentle balance between vibrant hues, pastel tones and stark whites evokes a sense of comfort and adds a touch of drama. The plush furnishings whisper luxury, while quirky rugs add a playful charm, weaving together a tapestry of comfort and allure that invites tranquility and delight.” ~Simran Khare
Elephant and Co Pune Gives The Bar Area A Well-Deserved Spotlight | Studio ODD
Our journey began with a close inspection of the existing layout, aiming to maximise functionality without sacrificing style. Within the confines of the indoor and outdoor areas, each spanning 1500 square feet, we envisioned a harmonious blend of practicality and charm. Our mission for Elephant and Co Pune was to give the bar area a well-deserved spotlight.
To kick things off, we decided to shake up the layout by relocating the kitchen to the mezzanine level. This freed up prime real estate for a private dining nook, a dedicated service bar station, and an expanded main bar that would steal the show.
A bar counter that’s not just a counter but a masterpiece in itself, wrapped around with service access on three sides. And right smack dab in the middle is a magnificent elephant sculpture, poised to steal the spotlight and set the tone for the entire space. We’re talking lime-plastered walls, cosy cane and jute touches, and custom-built furniture that whispers comfort. Amidst all that earthy goodness, we threw in a curveball—a stainless steel elephant sculpture. It’s like mixing rustic charm with a splash of industrial chic. Thus creating a vibe that’s as eclectic as it is inviting.
We wanted the outdoor space to feel like a laid-back hangout, so we threw in a mix of seating options. From cozy built-in nooks to communal high tables and chill picnic benches, there’s a spot for everyone to kick back and relax.
And the vibe doesn’t stop there. Kadappa floors underfoot, lime-plastered walls all around, and just the right amount of mood lighting to keep things feeling oh-so cozy, whether it’s day or night.
We decided to go dark and dramatic with the washrooms, with sleek black walls and mosaic tiles adding a touch of intrigue. But we kept things classy with cane lighting fixtures and mirrors that make a statement without stealing the show.
In the end, Elephant & Co. got a makeover that’s as unique and vibrant as the people who frequent it, with every detail carefully curated to strike the perfect balance between sustainability and style.
