Every home begins with an idea. For this family of six in Pune, it began with a clear desire to create a home that moved away from the rigidity of straight lines and embraced the softness of curves, arches and waves. What followed was a design journey where every space found its own expression while remaining connected to a common sense of calm.
Curves Take Over In This Pune Home For A Family Of 6 | Inline Studio
The clients had already named their home Sukoon, meaning a sense of peace and comfort. As the design evolved, the name became more than an identity; it became the underlying thought behind the interiors. The home was envisioned as a place where different personalities, ages and passions could coexist naturally, without one overpowering the other.
The living room became one of the strongest expressions of the home’s curved vocabulary. Arches, waves and rounded forms appear through the furniture, walls, artwork and lighting, creating a continuous sense of movement. Instead of following conventional straight lines, the spaces flow into one another, making the room feel softer and more inviting.
The master bedroom continues this language in a more intimate way. Curved and wavy forms create a cocoon-like atmosphere, complemented by a subtle pearl texture that adds softness and depth. The clients also wanted texture to play a role in the interiors, which led to the use of a hammered finish on HDHMR.
The art collection and hanging light further reinforce the wave-inspired concept, allowing the design language to continue through details rather than becoming overly literal.
For the parents’ bedroom, the approach became quieter and warmer. The space was designed to feel comforting and grounded, with a conscious effort to avoid anything visually stimulating that might disturb its sense of rest. It became a retreat within the home, simple, warm and easy on the mind.
The children’s room takes a completely different direction. Both boys share an intense fascination with cars, and their passion naturally became the starting point for the space. Yet the intention was never to create an overtly themed room.
Instead, geometric patterns, straight lines and carefully placed car-inspired details bring their interests into the room while keeping the overall composition refined. The edges remain soft, creating a balance between the architectural language of the home and the boys’ love for structured, dynamic forms.
The thought was particularly important because the children are still growing. Their room needed to reflect who they are today without becoming visually overwhelming or distracting. Their passion is present, but in a way that allows the space to evolve with them.
The guest bedroom offered an entirely different opportunity. With complete creative freedom, the room became a canvas for experimentation. A gentle gradient treatment gives the space a distinctive atmosphere, while mural art adds an expressive layer. To bring this idea to life, an artist was invited to hand-paint artwork across the guest room, passage and terrace walls. These artworks connect different parts of the home while adding an unmistakably personal touch.
Marble was introduced through furniture and wall applications, bringing a sense of permanence and understated luxury. Material selection itself became a surprisingly effortless process. The clients and designers often found themselves drawn to the same materials, colours and finishes, creating a natural rhythm in the decision-making process.
A home where art moves across walls, textures invite touch, curves soften the everyday, and every room quietly reflects the people who inhabit it.
A home named Sukoon, designed to feel exactly like it sounds – calm, personal and deeply at ease.
