Conceived As An Exhibition Space, Amar Akbar Anthony Is More Than A Product Display | Sharran Interior

[Sassy_Social_Share]

Amar Akbar Anthony was conceived as a unified exhibition space for three industry peers—Office Konnect (modular office furniture), Shobhan The Light Studio (architectural lighting), and Jai Air (air-conditioning systems)—each with over three decades of expertise. Presented at an architecture and interior design exhibition themed around Sustainability, the brief demanded more than a product display; it called for a spatial narrative that embodied collaboration, efficiency, and environmental
responsibility.

Exhibition Space

The Layout

Rather than designing three isolated stalls, we envisioned a single, cohesive layout anchored by a café-style meeting hub. This central exhibition space functioned as a shared client interaction zone, a visual magnet drawing visitors inward, and an intuitive circulation regulator encouraging meaningful engagement. An open-plan configuration with minimal partitions ensured visual continuity while allowing each brand to distinctly showcase its core offerings.

Office Konnect

The stall was structured around synergy. Office Konnect furnished the entire space, integrating modular desks, task chairs, and lounge seating that doubled as discussion pockets. A deconstructed office chair installation became a sculptural focal point.

Shobhan

Shobhan The Light Studio illuminated the entire environment, with a statement feature light above the café table acting as the spatial anchor, while façade lighting was demonstrated against a brick-clad feature wall. Jai Air introduced repurposed AC louvers as permeable partitions and display panels, and installed a sculptural, amoeba- shaped “flow bar” that translated airflow into form.

Materiality reinforced the sustainability ethos. The designers crafted the café table from reused plywood and recycled corrugated metal, finished with a basalt stone top—expressing durability through reclaimed elements. Flooring incorporated recycled materials, while a cement-textured wall finish unified the backdrop. Wherever feasible, they left the ceilings exposed to reduce material use, enclosed only where technical demonstrations required it.

Sustainability operated at three strategic levels: shared infrastructure to minimize duplication, repurposed materials salvaged from Office Konnect’s previous store, and post-exhibition adaptability, with graphics and components designed for reuse in the brands’ respective offices.

Conclusion

The result was not merely a stall, but a collaborative ecosystem—an efficient, cost- conscious, and environmentally responsive platform that celebrated partnership while demonstrating integrated design thinking.
