Calm Colors Prelude these Apartment Interiors | RN Deesign

As so aptly named, ‘Pastel haven’ graces us with myriad calm colors that instantly make the inhabitants take a pause.

To craft a space for a family who shifted back to India after spending 10-12 years in the United States, implementing calm colors, tropical patterns in an elegant and charming view. The 935 sq. ft. apartment is located on 3rd floor of Dosti flamingos, a premium residential space in Parel, Mumbai. The clients specified that their new home had to be minimal and have a design language that aged well with time.

Editor’s note: As long as pastel colors are the selection for a home, serenity is sure to spread within. The spaces have a visual language that spurs a feeling of continuity. But the office spaces? It stands out, and how so! The boldness is addictive and sets a contrasting terminology as compared to the rest of the haven. ~ Nishal Sevak

Calm Colors Prelude these Apartment Interiors | RN Deesign

The design intent

Our Team curated a White-Beige canvas for the entire apartment, adding colour and textures through furniture, accent decor and beautiful natural Plants. We have developed a style which sees a beautiful fusion of English design with modern urban undertones. The result is a home with a harmonious composition of subtle luxury and elegant patterns.

The civil intervention

This was an existing apartment which was completely re-planned. Originally, the apartment was not enough bright and airy -it was broken down to a bare shell and redesigned completely to maintain a cohesive design language.

The spatial configuration

The apartment door opens to a space with a free-flowing layout, a mid-size living room with an attached balcony on one side, and a dining area having a tropical artwork from Kalakaari Haath which occupies pride of place on the other.

The living area has shades of blush and monochrome furniture making the overall space look fresh and crisp. The beauty of this project is the colour scheme devised by the studio where white is married with its many variants, creating a calmness to the entire house.

Across the hallway lies the Study room, Kid’s and Master room, designed to reflect the individuality and passion.

The highlights

The highlight of this project is the Study room: people want space to themselves and crave privacy. This particular space offers a blank slate to compensate for lost function elsewhere in the home.

Master bedroom is all about coherence of the space with neutral white & Blush theme. The master bedroom has customized full height headboard with mirror on both sides. The wardrobe finished in laminate and fluted Panel were kept minimal adding character to the entire room. To create a room that the Little ones will adore, we focused on the one thing they do love the most: Play!

Keeping this in mind the Kid’s room has been designed with a Murphy bed that gives ample space for playtime during the day along with the adjustable study table.

In a beautiful fusion of English design with modern undertones, we have used a bold colour palette for the Study room trying to break the mould and have a fresh vibe. This room’s uniformity is delightfully broken by this combination, which also enhances its beauty.

The average sized three bathrooms are designed vertically to feel both taller and more streamlined.

The material palette

Palette of white and muted tones prevents the overall space from feeling cluttered whereas laminate, fluted glass, wooden floor, tiles and tropical wallpaper star in the material selection.
