When clients approached Esha and Edwin Stanley, founders and principals at Concepto Studio, with a vision for their Bengaluru apartment, they had a clear brief in mind: a subtle, India modern home that stood apart. What followed was a carefully layered 5,320 sq ft residence—crafted with textures, soul, and stories—tailored to reflect both heritage and modernity in equal measure.
Beyond Minimalism, This Bengaluru Apartment Tells Stories Through Materials | Concepto Studio
The four-bedroom apartment opens with quiet drama—an arched entryway framed by planters and a bespoke console sets the tone for the spatial narrative. The living area that follows unfolds in lush green hues, grounded by earthy textures and punctuated by mid-century modern furniture in warm tan. A tall, striking bookshelf holds the homeowners’ cherished collection, with a cosy reading nook and lounger inviting long, languid afternoons. A sleek bar sits tucked into the space, proving that elegance and ease need not be mutually exclusive.
Try Plus freeThe home’s Indian influences are subtle yet significant—seen in the niches, artefacts, and an intimate mandir framed by mandala art. Wicker lamps, fluted details, and a palette of soft, grounded tones lend the space a sense of warmth that never veers into excess. The dining area carries forward this tactile story with a rich wooden dining table, paired with a metal-accented console that adds a touch of urban sharpness.
The kitchen channels Nordic minimalism with a distinctly Indian heart. Wooden detailing adds depth, while matte black backsplashes and clean lines ensure the space feels contemporary and light—never heavy-handed.
Each bedroom has its own voice, yet remains part of the larger narrative. The first features a peach-toned tropical wallpaper that exudes quiet charm, offset by partisan moulded wardrobes with a hint of gold for understated luxury.
The master is unapologetically bold—a wash of greens with an ochre headboard, fluted glass for light diffusion, and open shelving for character and practicality. The third bedroom is breezy and earth-toned, with a balcony that welcomes the outdoors in.
Meanwhile, the fourth bedroom—designed for children—is imaginative and interactive. With a calming grey palette, it features a bunk bed, play area, and even a small rock-climbing wall. Expansive windows allow light to flood in, creating a space where function meets fun.
Concepto Studio’s design sensibility shines throughout—a home that feels rooted yet refined, personal yet universal. It’s a space where every corner speaks softly of intention, craftsmanship, and comfort.
