The client’s primary request was for a modern home design, emphasizing the use of imported materials and contemporary furniture to achieve a sleek and sophisticated look. Designing from a bare shell presented a challenge, but successfully accommodating six bedrooms (including two master bedrooms with attached walk-ins, two kids’ rooms, and two guest rooms), along with a spacious kitchen and utility area, within a 3000 sq.ft space required strategic planning and efficient use of every inch available.
Editor’s Note: The contemporary home in Mumbai is layered flawlessly with bespoke and off-the-rack furniture with nuances of posh colours and materials. The interiors weave together elegant sculptures and indoor plants, like islands of dainty gardens. Marble’s essence can be felt everywhere, from the wall texture to the tabletop, which ultimately becomes the soul of the project. The experimental placement of lights shimmers the walls like gold, animating the interiors. – Gopika Pramod

Creating a cohesive flow throughout the entire home while maintaining individuality for each room was a key objective. This design approach aimed to cater to diverse age brackets, ensuring a unified yet personalized look for the entire residence.
In the living room and common areas, the flooring boasts Michelangelo marble, complemented by the elegant use of grey veneer on the walls, creating a sophisticated and luxurious ambiance.
Clever design techniques are employed to reduce the visual weight of the large marble column in the main living room, ensuring it complements the space without overwhelming it.
The furniture selection is a thoughtful mix of carefully chosen pieces from various stores, along with custom-made items, ensuring a cohesive match with the overall home palette.
The TV wall is adorned with a beautiful texture and serves as a captivating showcase for a collection of exquisite artifacts, adding a touch of elegance to the space.
The kitchen embraces a monotone aesthetic with cream as the dominant color. It features a ready-made design, with the designer’s vision and execution accomplished off-site, ensuring a seamless and cohesive look.
Each master room is uniquely designed, featuring an elegant color palette that is both inviting and pleasant to the eyes, providing distinct atmospheres within the home.
The walk-in wardrobe possesses its own aesthetic charm, featuring soft and lovely colors in the dresser that seamlessly align with the overall theme of the room.
The bathrooms showcase a delightful array of tiles, each boasting a unique color scheme. For instance, one of the master bathrooms stands out with white and blue tiles, accentuated by rose gold fittings, adding a touch of elegance to the space. The second master bathroom follows a captivating gold and rust theme, complemented by stylish matte gold bathroom fittings, creating a luxurious and warm ambiance.
The daughter’s bedroom, though compact, is thoughtfully designed with a bed that doubles as storage. The wardrobe incorporates back-painted glass in shades of pink to purple, complemented by a wooden floor.
The custom-made lights add an intriguing touch to the dresser, creating a unique and personalized space for a girl in her early teens.
The bathroom is truly charming, featuring lovely floral tiles paired with olive green plain tiles. The standout element is a beautiful mirror wall in Terrazzo, adding a touch of sophistication to the overall design.
The guest rooms adopt a neutral ambiance, featuring oak veneer and soft colors, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere for visitors.
Both the guest bathroom and the powder room boast vibrant and electric-colored tiles, adding a lively and energetic touch to these spaces.
The son’s bedroom is adorned with shades of blue and incorporates a playful zig-zag pattern of lights, creating a dynamic and visually engaging atmosphere.
