A minimalist house designed through the lens of character and functionality by Yellow Architects is no exception to the saying that every space is driven by its function. The client approached us with this three-bedroom apartment house nestled in the center of the city in Hyderabad to transform the barren building into an extravagant and opulent residence. The Clientele favors utilitarian designs that are well-driven in terms of aesthetics throughout the entire property.
“A design-friendly approach of white and dark veneer never goes out of style. Paired with luxe of marble and greens makes it a perfect indoor environment.”- Nishal Sevak(Co-Editor)

This made us stick to the minimalistic approach but design the best of all in every nook and corner. To keep the space as light as possible visually, the first glimpse of the apartment welcomes with a serene Buddha statue sitting on a floating wooden board rather than a console table, while the greens in the brass planters add more warmth to the space. By unifying the entire space, the PVC wall cladding with wooden inlay is used as the fluid gel flowing in every space.
The living room with its neutral palette and clean lines combined to create a minimal vibe to form decluttered space. Throw-in pillows, artifacts, and rugs are accent pieces in bright colors added coziness to the space whereas one thing that stands out is the wooden backdrop that extends all the way to the ceiling in the TV unit area, making it very subtle with simple lines and a floating desk.
The idea of tearing down the wall until puja has introduced the full openness in the plan by erasingthe barriers to unite yet segregate for their distinct functions, laying the close connection betweenthe spaces says Ar. Vamshi Krishna Cherupally, the principal architect of Yellow Architects.
The partition wall that has our hearts has a clean, minimalist style that underlines assertiveness and is themain element of the home. The combination of both the wood and the marble PVC neutralizes thespace even further while the wooden rafters play a prominent role in redefining the whole characterof the space.
The white ceilings exude calmness paired with the white marble on the floor, where the entire dramaunfolds in between right from designer fans to chic rugs, this minimal home has all the componentsneeded to liven up the area.
The dining sits perfectly contrasting with the white palette kitchen studded with profile doors of white tinted glass. The colored grains and wooden ledge gives the frame an additional personality with a neutral backsplash.
The extremely understated puja door, articulated with brass elephant handles, added an extra touch of tradition to the room.
The master bedroom, which features a personalized beige bed complimented by a matte black metal side table and pop accessories, is the space that was assembled with the utmost care.
A full-height mirror, minimalist furniture, and glass profile wardrobes with veneer inlay complete the space. The area is given an airy feel by the floating ledge with drawers that are adorned with red vases, rattan planters, and traditional pattern blinds, adding value to the space.
The chest of drawers with bespoke handles created on-site from waste is the greatest feature of the space and it directs us to sustainable grounds. The cherry on top is a functioning air conditioner that complements the room’s color scheme the finest
The children’s bedroom, which was decorated in white with a dash of olive green thanks toheadboards, paintings with gold accents, and wooden floors in contrast to the brown wardrobe, created a vibrant atmosphere overall.
With only whites and browns coming from the natural teak veneer and lots of light, the study area in this room is intended to be as tranquil and quiet as possible. The window seating adds more fun and functionality to the corner concealing the ottoman underside.
The guest bedroom is thoughtfully designed, with wooden laminate skirting that flows over the closet before converting into a straightforward ledge that serves as both the study and the dressing areas at once.
The overhead shelf, which is partially open, also serves as a combined but distinct storage room for both the books and the cosmetics. The pullout drawers under the bed provide additional storage space in the room
