A Japanese Style Home That Hugs You In Its Warmth | NSAD Studio
This 1400 sq ft home, designed for a family of four, is a soothing haven, enveloped in a neutral palette and flooded with lush daylight.
Led by the designer duo from New Space Architecture + Design Studio, this apartment transforms into a tranquil retreat.
Further, it takes cues from the clients affinity towards exploring India’s rich cultural heritage and their minimalist living preferences.
The clients wanted uninterrupted spatial connectivity for continued conversations. Through the integration of their affinity for Indian art, craft and history. Additionally, with their love for the timelessness of wood.
The heritage wooden bracket stands as a sentinel in the living room, adding to the poetics of the space.
This brief became the genesis of this home, where the ceiling flows like fluid, binding the living room with the dining space and kitchen.
Furthermore, the curious collection of bespoke furniture takes inspiration from Japanese minimalism.
The most challenging yet exciting aspect of this project was getting the client’s directive to create a language that “designs not to impress but to express” realized.
The accents of antiques and customized artwork evidently adorn the walls.
It celebrates the expanse and addresses their requirement for being connected.
As a consequence, the design of the entire residence was against a neutral, earthy backdrop. It serves as the perfect canvas for the client’s most cherished belongings.
