    The Cozy Abode is an apartment in Mumbai of a young couple wanting a vibrant home with young
    colors and styles. The couple was open to experimentation in design and shades, so a lively touch was
    given to the house with fresh hues. The space was a builder finished flat with the civil work i.e., the
    flooring and bathrooms completed. A cozy and pleasing interior environment defines this 3 bedroom apartment.

    As you enter, on the right side are a shoe rack and drawers to keep daily items such as keys and
    newsletters.

    The neutral-toned living room has a pop of yellow color that accentuates the space. It is divided into
    formal and informal seating –with a sofa set on one side and recliner chairs on the other, facing the
    veneer-finished mini bar and the window.

    Cladded in laminate, this room has a partition that cuts off the view to all the doors of the private rooms. So if anyone has to come out directly from any room, they are not faced directly into the living room and the privacy is maintained.

    On the left is the kitchen, which is kept open, followed by the living room; a dining area segregates these two spaces.

    The kitchen, being open, has a premium finish of quartz and black tinted glass.

    The passage leading towards the master bedroom has cutouts in its central portion for openness and to avoid the sense of claustrophobia. It also acts as a display for artifacts and books.

    The master bedroom is full of young colors with hints of magenta for the furnishings that lifts the compact space. The client required a huge amount of storage here, so the wide bathroom in the room was made smaller and a space for a walk-in wardrobe with a dresser was created.

    The young 3-year-old son’s bedroom is splashed in his favorite color – blue. With an understanding of
    the changing likes and dislikes of kids about styles, the blue shade was used only as a patch on the
    wardrobe, drawers, and headboard.

    Printed blue wallpaper is used on the bedside wall, so if he wanted it replaced with his growing age and interests, it can be done easily without spending too much. The highlight of this room is a swing and his own study table and drawers, which he loved.

    The guest room is smaller than the rest of the rooms and serves as a multipurpose space. The owner, being a teacher/consultant, during the work-from-home phase after the Covid-19 lockdown, required a space to work.

    A study desk, storage, and a space for a printer were provided and the background was kept plain with neutral grey with the wires concealed. This provided a seamless experience in the compact space as well as during the zoom meetings.

    A huge L-shaped sofa-cum-bed, which the clients had, is placed in the guest room to accommodate the guests, especially the owners’ parents, who visited often.

    In the daytime, this cozy room can be used as a lounge for reading and entertainment.
