Inspired by the context and elements of Morni’s surroundings, the Bhuri Cottage has been conscious and exhibits rustic elegance designed to create a contemporary retreat amidst the beauty of the Shivaliks. Situated on a hill, the irregular shape of the site has been used to develop the ‘L’ shaped plan for the cottage which flawlessly merges with the landscape. The streamlined plan has been oriented along the natural landscape on both sides thereby generating a narrow front.

The geometric exterior reflects the mountain backdrop of the site with triangular walls accentuating the slender facade. The natural stone used on the exterior has been extracted from the vicinity and cut to shape by local craftsmen.
Situated on a hill, the irregular shape of the site has been used to develop the ‘L’ shaped plan for the cottage which flawlessly merges with the landscape. The streamlined plan has been oriented along the natural landscape on both sides thereby generating a narrow front.
As we walk into the cottage, we enter through a narrow foyer opening into a formal living area on the right. The neutral colour palette of interiors with patterned flooring creates a cozy corner too spend hours of comfort with family. Further, balanced out with a subtle false ceiling and custom-made wooden furniture.
The dining space has striking blue interiors with windows running on both sides creating a dialogue with the scenic view outside and extending into a veranda on both sides, thereby connecting both extents of the site visually. The colour for the flooring has been chosen to match the natural grey colour of the facade walls. Being subtle, it provides a base to highlight the pop of colour added using hues of blue in the chairs and console. These elements amalgamate and elevate the design
Through the open kitchen, we move towards the staircase area that has been strategically placed to be equidistant from both ends of the block. This contemporary metal staircase was planned with floating wooden treads. The simple geometry of the railing continues to use triangles. Thus, linking it to the facade and context.
The lobby on the first floor acts as a transition space, as well as an interactive corner with openings on both sides making it breezy and serene. The cottage houses a total of 3 bedrooms with simple yet elegant interiors and custom-made wooden furniture
The eclectic master bedroom is designed to recharge one. Its neutral colours provide a calming effect on the mind and help one relax to the fullest.
Detailed rustic decor and beautiful views add to the spacious and stunning bedroom, packed with all comforts for a convenient stay.
The narrow passage of the terrace frames the Morni hills providing the best sight and experience. Situated on the ground floor this bedroom provides an enormous window for one to enjoy the majestic views of the hills.
