The ‘Nair House’ belongs to a south Indian family who have their cultural values grounded from the past but are living with the modern times. With an understanding of art, they wanted the classic design to reflect modernity with a classical touch.

One of the rooms has a blue headboard which acts as a feature wall and has a deep blue fabric headboard up till the ceiling with rose gold strips giving it a break. The copper panels on the side maintains the symmetry and gives a background to the blue headboard making it subtle. The hidden mirror for dressing slides out of the headboard maintain the symmetry of the feature wall. The fluted panels on the wardrobe breaks the flat surface allowing more focus on the headboard. The sitting near the window creates a cozy space to sip coffee while reading.
The project was to design four bedrooms out of which one was conceptualized in a way to transform the bedrooms to a home office keeping the aesthetics in mind. To keep it classy and vibrant, each room has one wall which is striking and bright while the other walls are kept flat deliberately to highlight and bring out the beauty of the room.
The bedroom with the green wall is inspired with an influence of bohemian styling, where there is a color pop of mustard and green with white as a canvas to the room. The wardrobe shutter is finished on Gloss PU while the wall behind the bed is zinc texture paint.
The wooden panel beside the bed is the entry to the washroom where the wooden element compliments the greens & whites. The shade of the wood subdues the green wall even with minimum proportion. The white niches with soft focus on artefacts give a break to the green wall complimenting the entire room.
Mr. Nair, a motivational speaker is a man of 60’s with the mindset of 80s, living with 90’s and running in the 20’s. He did not just want a normal home office, but needed a multi-purpose office, an office where he could conduct his video conferences, read books in the library, meditate, worship, conduct meetings. The vibe of the room commanded to be positive, relaxing and energetic.
The molding depicts the spiritual value coming from the place of worship & hammered panels relates to the traditional south Indian sloping roofs. The soft lighting thoughtfully placed for each shelf creates a very comfortable and soothing mood for a peaceful time to read. Also placed besides is rotating armchair with footstool to sit on for hours.
The lightings have been designed in a way to adjust according to the mood and requirement.
The 3D wooden panels on either side of the library are to balance the symmetry with the asymmetrical bookshelves. The undulation of the panels throws vibrations of hustle and strength to never settle. The wardrobe shutter has fluted panel with PU coating in matt finish while the bathroom & main door is flushed to the wall to create plane surface for a background. To give the space a spiritual & meditative energy, a beautifully hand painted buddha is placed in one corner with molding around it.
It gives itself a confined space and a dedicated room along with the play of different elements around. The wooden and beige color combination gives the space warmth and calmness.
