Nature loving Clients asked us to design the house that resonate nature and expresses nature throughout the home. We have taken the advantage of Public Park in front of the site to extend the nature beyond their plot. The inclusion of Public Park into our design made the house as staying inside the nature physically and visually. We connected inhabitants physically with a series of themed Gardens – Front Serene Garden, Central Rain Court, and Private Back Garden, whereas Public park connected visually and seamlessly.

The Front Garden welcomes the guests with a sense of tranquility and peacefulness. To forge a connection between the park and the garden, it has been raised to a level where the Park and the Garden form one vast Visual Greenscape. Though these spaces are separated, they are connected visually. The visual connection is carried along to the Central Rain Court which is strategically placed at the center of the house. This double height Lung space provides a good connect with the front garden to the Public park. The collection of diverse plants and the fresh water aquarium along with diffused light from the court forms its own Microclimate. The aquarium is constantly engaged by a sheet waterfall which burbles, setting a serene mood through the house.

All bedrooms open to either the front garden or view of the Park, yet they are designed as private enclosures. The Parents Master Suite opens to the rear garden on the south-west as per the principles of Vaastu. The upper balcony bridged to the family room opens out to the view of the Park. The Front Garden, 20ftX30ft in size, invokes the sense of serene and calmness when you enter the house. Front garden and the Park, that seamlessly camouflaged. With the raised Garden, the public and the private spaces are separated, yet they are connected visually.

The Rain Court, in Centre of the House, is a double height Lung space, serene light well for family and it connects all Living/Common spaces at all levels.  The open to sky Central Rain Court brings in diffused light from the double height enclosure creates the micro climate that brings the essence of a home. The Court changes with seasons, with its variety of flowering plants and shrubs. The water body and water sheet fall fountains with Fresh water Aquarium is a visual treat. The tree at the Rain court binds the space with spatial volumes. The external security envelop ensures that the internal Rain court’s windows are Grill free. All the Bedrooms are Private and open to outdoor garden or view to Park. The Parents Master Bedroom opens to the Rear garden on SW as per Vaastu.

Basic Insights of the project :

    Q.  Please share with us challenges faced by you during the process of design ideation till execution of the project. We are sure there might be many and you would have overcome it successfully.

ANS : The clients for this project are of a well travelled business family who admire nature and appreciate arts and crafts. The challenges faced in the design development stage was to educate the clients on several aspects like adding certain necessary spaces to their requirements like the addition of basement parking or the provision for lift keeping in mind that these insertions would help the client’s everyday usage of the spaces. Also, convincing and making the clients aware of the several design decisions made with respect to the conceptual idea, response to the context, achieving the desirable views, and geographical conditions was also a crucial aspect. This was achieved through several conceptual sketches, diagrams, and 3D visualizations. The challenges faced during the execution stage was due to location of the site away from the office, continuous follow ups had to be made with the site team, site engineer and the project architect on a day to day basis. Also, the major challenge was to find skilled labors who could get familiar with the design details, and execute the same at site. So, in order to overcome this fabricators and carpenters were chosen from Bengaluru and sent to Hubli.

    Q. Design Style which is followed by the project

    Ans : Modern

    Q.  If the project is influenced highly by the context of the site, please share with us the insight for that.

Ans : The existence of the park right in front of the site was a major design influence that has impacted the design strongly. Due to the geographical conditions, the parking in rear side was raised, and vehicular approach has been restricted to the rear side which allows the pedestrian friendly entry from the front side. The concept revolves around the idea to maximize the visual connection with the park in front. As the clients love being close to nature, a front garden with a Buddha court has been provided raised from the road level to gain uninterrupted views from the living area to the park. And, Insertion of double height volumes like the outdoor rain court allows connection from dining to the park, and the indoor double height family area also helps establish a link from the first floor level with the park, showcasing the magnificent foliage of the trees.
