4BHK Apartment Interior Staying True To The Eclectic Vibe | D.I.A. Atelier
We moved to this 2500 sqft / 4 bhk residence which includes a 300 sqft semi-outdoor space in April 2018. It was a bare shell, which we directly bought from the builder. We got this home for the 19th-floor panoramic view, a clear view of the mangroves to our west and the city to the east. This project was an opportunity to express me as an architect in the smallest of details.

I was inspired by the idea of experimenting with contrast materials and colours; to assign them the functionality of the space. I would read and research on how art and design amalgamate together through interior spaces before I sat to design each corner.
For me, good design is functional, experimental, refreshing, and comfortable. I’ve tried to achieve maximum functionality through the layout, I’ve experimented by bringing in various elements in juxtaposition, which is also refreshing; and I’ve tried my best to bring in comfort through the materials used in the soft goods.
I’ve spent almost a year designing and decorating this home; we started with the structural changes in the original layout provided by the builder and took it forward. Honestly, for a designer, it is truly difficult to stop designing, even more so when it’s your own space.
Colour has always been an important element in bringing out personalities of my clients and the selection of the Indigo blue for the living room was a beautiful experiment. After working with a lot of Indian families that disregard the idea of using black in homes for various reasons, This living area serves as a perfect example to break limits.
For storage units in the living area, one normally requires a combination of concealed and open sections. Keeping this in mind with the availability of a larger space, I dedicated 1/5th of the length for the concealed section, where I’ve used bespoke faux leather panels for the shutters.
The intention for the remaining wall was to go bold while signifying luxury. Hence I went with the classic matt champagne gold finish on a bespoke open display unit. While designing the semi-outdoor space, which I call the Den, my intention was to use faux green foliage for the ceiling, wall, and flooring. This tea-time corner has become the family’s favorite spot.
Staying true to the eclectic vibe for the common spaces I chose an accent plum fabric for the vintage accent chair creating a mismatched style in the furniture. The light bulb strings above the swing simply teleport us to a European café and add Hygge for some quiet book reading. My mother being an Aromatherapist loves alchemizing essential oils into our homemade shampoos and face masks.
Her workstation is a dedicated full height storage unit where she keeps all her raw materials; the bar stool and the extending low height table also functions as the crockery unit for the dining area. The fuchsia pink faux flowers the arrangement above was an element I added to compliment the height in the home.
