  • Beyond One Look, Urban Serenity Gives Every Room Its Own Identity | Boho Design Studio

Urban Serenity Residence is a contemporary residential interior project by BOHO DESIGN STUDIO in Borivali, Mumbai. Designed by principal designer ID Puneet Patel, this 1,500 sq. ft. home explores the relationship between modern aesthetics, thoughtful detailing, and everyday comfort. Completed in 2026 over eight months, the residence brings together coordinated finishes, layered lighting, and personalised spaces to create a cohesive yet individual interior.

Each room has its own character, while complementary colours, textures, furniture, and lighting maintain continuity across the home. Rather than relying on a single dramatic feature, the interiors build their identity through details that create a calm, contemporary environment.

Beyond One Look, Urban Serenity Gives Every Room Its Own Identity | Boho Design Studio

    An Entrance with Character

The entrance creates a memorable first impression through dark framing, vertical golden accents, and reflective surfaces. Vertical detailing introduces rhythm, while reflective elements add depth and interact with surrounding light. These features turn the entrance into more than a passage: they establish a transition into the home and introduce the material language that continues within.

The contrast between darker framing and metallic accents gives the area definition, while reflective finishes keep the composition light.

    A Welcoming Living Room

The living room establishes the design language through neutral upholstery, textured wall treatments, and contrasting architectural details. Light-toned seating creates a comfortable foundation, while darker elements add definition and wood-toned finishes bring warmth. Together, these details create interest without making the room feel overly elaborate.

The ceiling contributes to the composition through recessed illumination and decorative fixtures. Layers of light bring out the textures of the space and create depth. The furniture arrangement supports relaxation and conversation.

A Dining Area for Shared Moments

The dining area continues the contemporary vocabulary while creating a distinct setting for shared meals. Pendant lighting draws attention to the dining zone and creates a more intimate atmosphere. The relationship between lighting, furniture, and surrounding finishes defines the area without separating it visually from adjoining spaces.

Here, restraint allows proportion, illumination, and material coordination to shape the experience. The dining area feels connected to the home while retaining its own purpose.

    A Contemporary Kitchen

The kitchen introduces contrast through its combination of light and dark finishes. Dark cabinetry creates a clear visual framework, while the lighter countertop and backsplash balance the composition. This interplay gives the kitchen a defined identity while preserving a clean, contemporary appearance.

Cabinetry, work surfaces, and lighting are treated as parts of a coordinated whole, supporting everyday tasks while contributing to the wider aesthetic. A controlled material palette helps avoid clutter and allows the finishes to stand out.

The Master Bedroom: A Calm Retreat

The master bedroom adopts a softer visual language through warm taupe tones, upholstered surfaces, and sculptural wall detailing. A feature panel behind the bed creates a focal point through form and texture, while the upholstered headboard softens the composition.

Mirrored wardrobe shutters with geometric detailing add depth and structure. Wall-mounted lighting complements the headboard wall and creates intimate illumination. Together, the neutral palette, tactile surfaces, and detailing create a restful retreat.

    A Playful Child’s Bedroom

The child’s bedroom introduces a more imaginative dimension. An underwater-themed wall brings colour and storytelling into the room, while a blue wardrobe reinforces the palette. The upholstered bed and coordinated cushions help bring the elements together.

The room differs intentionally from the more restrained adult bedrooms. Its theme gives it a distinct identity suited to a younger occupant, while the arrangement remains organised. It demonstrates how a more expressive palette can sit comfortably within a considered residential design.

    A Bedroom Defined by Geometry

Another bedroom develops its identity through a three-dimensional square-panel feature wall. The raised geometry creates depth and shadow, making the wall a defining element. Neutral upholstered furniture softens the strong lines, while darker vertical accents provide contrast.

Lighting reveals the texture of the feature surface, allowing the panels to create subtle changes in light and shadow. Though distinct from the master bedroom, it remains connected to the wider home through contemporary detailing and coordinated finishes.

    A Quiet Seating Area

A separate seating area offers a quieter moment within the home. A cream-toned wall with geometric panel detailing provides an architectural backdrop, while neutral chairs and warm wood accents keep the arrangement understated. The detailing adds interest without competing with the more expressive features elsewhere.

This seating area can serve as a place to pause or converse, and its restrained treatment brings balance to the overall interior. It demonstrates that every corner can be designed with purpose.

    Materials, Lighting, and Continuity

Across Urban Serenity Residence, materials and lighting work together to shape the atmosphere. Wood-toned finishes introduce warmth, textured walls create depth, reflective surfaces add dimension, and darker accents provide definition. Upholstered furniture softens the architectural lines, ensuring the contemporary detailing remains inviting.

Lighting is integral to the composition. Recessed illumination, decorative pendants, and wall-mounted fixtures help define zones and highlight selected details. Each room retains its own identity: the living room emphasises contrast and texture, the kitchen uses a light-and-dark palette, the master bedroom offers a softer retreat, and the child’s bedroom embraces colour and imagination.
