The design brief presented a unique challenge: to craft a home that would serve as both a statement of inner strength and a functional haven for multiple generations. The client’s vision called for spaces that could operate as independent sanctuaries while fostering family connection—a delicate balance between autonomy and togetherness. From elderly residents to children, each inhabitant required thoughtful consideration, with understated luxury woven throughout to elevate everyday living.

Designing for Every Generation

Though it was a 5-bedroom apartment, the plan was short of spaces for dedicated activities. Thus, we innovatively integrated multiple functionalities into the common rooms. The formal living area turns into a guest bedroom while the home theatre also acts as a kids’ play and adults’ card room using multipurpose furniture. The individuality of each user presented a design challenge navigated beautifully through solution based design approach. The master bedroom incorporates handrails disguised as door handles for ease of movement for the elderly occupant. A discreet art door connects the mother’s and kids’ room allowing for movement and togetherness. This required careful thought and clever use of design camouflage.

Interestingly, what initially seemed like a logistical challenge—managing the project from London while construction occurred in India—proved advantageous. Daily video coordination provided unprecedented attention to detail, with design development and technical drawings prepared during nighttime hours for immediate implementation each morning. This time-zone-spanning collaboration ensured continuous progress and meticulous oversight.

Crafting Every Curve

Translating flowing curves from concept sketches to working drawings proved to be the straightforward part of the process. Execution, however, was another matter – or so we thought. We had fully expected the contractor to baulk at the sheer number of curves requiring fabrication through techniques such as CNC routing, laser cutting, and steam bending. Instead, we were pleasantly surprised: the contractor embraced the design with genuine enthusiasm, bringing remarkable care and precision to realising every curve exactly as drawn.

Every space is specially designed to convey our clients stories through design. Every corner has been thoughtfully planned and elements put together to make a home. That said, we brought together part members of the family into the present living area through a commissioned art work which sites right among the seating space, to create a feeling of togetherness and oneness. The artwork was lit through indirect onyx backlit strategically placed to shine through the translucent print on glass.

This personalized approach to design and connecting with the client through their stories to then convey it in discreet ways creating an atmosphere that the client cant truly call their home. Designed uniquely only for them. 

Kitchen

Every part of the house is adapted to the needs of the user anticipating their every move and way of life in the new space. We believe in catering to user needs with our design sensibility and eye for details.

Master Bedroom

At the heart of this project lies a compelling design concept: the transformation of inherently strong, harsh materials into expressions of softness and grace. Stone, traditionally associated with weight and permanence, has been carved and clad over curvilinear forms to appear fluid and gentle. This material alchemy serves as a powerful metaphor for feminine strength – resilient yet nurturing, strong yet graceful. 

Guest Room

The neutral palette of beiges and earth tones provides a serene foundation, deliberately interrupted by strategic accents of red throughout the residence. These bold punctuations serve as powerful visual statements—representing the breaking of stereotypes and the confident assertion of presence. Textured, earthy walls create depth and interest while providing the perfect canvas for soft furnishings, wooden panelling, and those daring colour moments. 

Vismita’s Room

Lighting design plays a crucial role in establishing the residence’s sophisticated ambience. Minimal ceiling fixtures work in concert with backlit onyx panels to provide balanced illumination. Indirect lighting and carefully placed accent lights bring softness and luxury to every space, avoiding harsh overhead lighting in favour of an atmospheric glow that enhances the curved architectural elements.

Darshana’s room

The aesthetic vocabulary draws from modern contemporary design infused with international influences, all brought to life through the skilled craftsmanship of Indian artisans. This marriage of global sensibility and local expertise creates a unique design signature that feels both cosmopolitan and rooted in place. The result is a residence that speaks a universal design language while celebrating indigenous craftsmanship.

Home Theatre

Kids Room

The entrance sets the tone with travertine surfaces that create a soft launching point into the home. Custom textured sandstone forms an elegant backdrop in the living areas, where carefully designed grooves lighten its visual weight. Perhaps most striking is the half cylindrical glass sculpture featuring customised art prints, backlit by onyx to create a luminous focal point that embodies both artistry and engineering precision.

Toilet

Throughout the residence, curves define the spatial experience. These organic forms, constructed from rigid materials, create a fascinating contrast that challenges conventional construction boundaries. Wooden surfaces embrace curved geometries, their natural warmth amplified by the flowing forms that guide movement and sight lines through the space.

Deck

The project’s soul lies in its honest treatment of materials. Rather than concealing veins, flaws, or natural variations, the design celebrates these characteristics as expressions of authenticity. This approach creates interiors that feel warm, genuine, and inviting—spaces that one can truly inhabit without pretence.

This residence stands as a testament to the power of thoughtful design to embody abstract concepts in built form. By translating feminine strength into spatial and material language— through the interplay of hard and soft, individual and collective, traditional and contemporary—it creates a truly extraordinary home for new beginnings.
