At Tabra Villas, the Goan villa design unfolds as a quiet, layered narrative deeply rooted in place. It is guided by restraint and softened by nature at every turn. Conceived around a philosophy of “less is more,” the home moves away from overt ornamentation. Instead, it celebrates proportion, material honesty, and the subtle richness of everyday living. The result is a space that feels timeless, grounded, and effortlessly lived in.
The journey begins at the entrance with a traditional Goan balcão, setting a tone that is both welcoming and calm. Patterned tiles underfoot echo local motifs. A built-in seat invites pause, creating a gentle transition from the outdoors into the home. Framed by white columns and dense tropical plants, this threshold establishes the home’s calm, unhurried rhythm.

One moves into a foyer like passage that acts as a gentle transitional buffer before the home fully reveals itself. This space carries a warm, slightly traditional character, anchored by a large carefully carved wooden mirror frame that brings in a sense of vintage craftsmanship while reflecting glimpses of greenery beyond. Below, a matching console is styled with an layered mix of curios collection over the clients’ travels, alongside delicate shells gathered from the beaches of Goa—subtle elements that ground the home in both memory and place.
From this moment of pause and compression, the space opens dramatically into a light-filled living and dining expanse, where volume, light, and openness take over. Large openings softened by sheer curtains allow sunlight to filter in gently, creating an ever-changing play of light and shadow, while maintaining a seamless dialogue with the outdoors. At its core, the home reflects its owner—a woman deeply connected to her Rajasthani roots—where a childhood shaped by colour, craft, and intricate detailing quietly weaves itself into the space through Indian prints, soft florals, and handcrafted textures, giving the home both identity and soul.
The living room balances playfulness with restraint. Muted pinks, Indian prints, and woven cane come together to create a space that is soft yet layered with character. Cane-backed furniture introduces a tactile lightness, while floral upholstery brings in a quiet nostalgia.
A deep blue rug anchors the composition, preventing the palette from drifting, while a pastel-toned chandelier adds a sculptural, almost whimsical touch—blending naturally into the room’s narrative.
Flowing naturally from the living room, the dining area continues this language of quiet elegance. A simple distressed-finish wooden table anchors the space, paired with cane-backed dining chairs from Gulmohar Lane that introduce artisanal warmth.
Behind, a light-toned cutlery unit adds a subtle vintage charm, while the open kitchen remains visually unobtrusive with warm wood cabinetry and a neutral herringbone backsplash. Together, the spaces read as one continuous, cohesive volume—light-filled, fluid, and deeply connected.
The master bedroom unfolds as a serene retreat in soothing sage green. Cane detailing and gentle curves draw from traditional Rajasthani craftsmanship, bringing in a sense of heritage without heaviness.
Soft linens, delicate motifs, and curated artwork maintain a balance between playfulness and calm, while large openings extend the room into the lush outdoors
Each guest bedroom is designed with its own identity while staying rooted in the home’s larger narrative.
One embraces a rustic simplicity with distressed wood and indigo textiles, while another adopts a more minimal, grounded palette with warm wood tones, a four-poster bed, and clay art accents.
A third guest room explores a softer interplay of blues and blush pinks, with cane detailing and pastel accents adding lightness and charm.
The outdoor space becomes a natural extension of the home. Framed by arches and warm wooden doors, the veranda opens into a lush courtyard anchored by a serene pool. A gazebo with an exposed wooden structure introduces depth and shade, while tropical planting softens the architecture. Designed for slow living, this space captures a quiet, sun-drenched rhythm—where indoors and outdoors dissolve seamlessly into one another.
At Tabra Villas, Studio Nõla crafts more than just a home—it creates an experience of living that is intuitive, rooted, and deeply personal. Guided by a philosophy of “less is more,” the spaces are kept minimal, light, and airy, allowing pastel tones, soft textures, and natural light to quietly define the atmosphere. Furniture recedes to let materiality and memory take center stage, creating a home that feels effortless yet deeply considered. Here, light, craft, and context come together to shape a narrative that is both timeless and distinctly its own—one that lingers, not in grandeur, but in feeling.
